REFLECTION PAPER:DRUG EDUCATION

With the enactment and the implementation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002
in the Philippines, it clearly shows that the acquisition of this law will make a lot of improvement in
terms of the awareness of the youth to the disastrous effects of drugs. This regulation controls the
number of drug users and serve as the assistance to those fallen victims of the said addiction.

I came to realized that drug addiction is indeed a chronic disorder we shouldn’t commit to.
Therefore, to prevent the risk of drugs, the government created a law that will preclude the exposition
and usage of dangerous drugs to the daily living of the youth. As for me, this program will certainly
change the perspective of the youth to refuse the intake of dangerous drugs if ever they will be exposed
to this kind of temptation.

Consequently, one way to prevent the risk of Drugs is through Education. Drug Education
protects, particularly the youth to be informative about the dangerous and disruptive effects of it on
their system specifically their physical and mental health. If the youth knows the consequences of these
drugs then they will have a second thought when they are tempted to take it. Drugs mainly affect the
function of our brain and worst may lead to death. Prior to that, drug addiction also affects the
emotional, social and mental development of a user which then affected their performances and daily
routines. Moreover, it contributed to the increasing number of crimes involving drug addicts. Thus, Drug
Education plays an important role to prevent the risk of drugs to the daily living of Filipinos particularly
the youth.

But not all users of these dangerous drugs are caused by the mere pressure of acquaintances or
peers and curiosity in order to feel and do better; some factors influence them to use drugs for their
own purpose and satisfaction. One example is biological factors, where genes, the stage of
development, gender and ethnicity performed a big impact on the creation of risk which can lead to
drug addiction. With that being said, all of us have the risk of using drugs if we don’t have proper
parental guidance, self-efficacy, strong family connection, and the awareness given by the enactment of
Drug Education.
For instance, learning about Drug Education entirely gives an absolute realization and
understanding with the causes and the consequences of drugs to our life. And as a youth and students
with goals, there are a lot of temptation whirling around which will either influence or make me attain a
stronger self-control. I may not know what uncertainties will bring, but with self-control, complete
awareness, goals and long-term motivations perhaps I will not be easily tempted to do any decisions I
will regret in the end. It’s easier said than done, but I will keep on bringing awareness to myself that will
strengthen my will to keep chasing that dreams no matter what life may bring. I’ve been surviving my
whole life, so I will not waste what I created that may completely ruin my aspirations. No to influences!
Yes to a Strong faith and Determination!

Moreover, I know I can’t do all of these without the guidance from our Almighty God. He knows
everything and he has unique plans to all of us. With him, everything will fall to its right places if we only
submit ourselves to Him. Having a good and strong relationship with God makes us stronger,
determined and aware which makes easier for us to set our goals knowing that he is Provider. No
temptation will prevail if we centre ourselves with the Guidance of God. Living with God is like doing the
impossible. Chasing what our dreams are, knowing God and living his words will accompany us into our
journey far from temptations and bad influences.
