ASSESSMENT METHOD IN DISTANCE LEARNING

Assessment Method How to Adapt the Assessment Method in DL

1. Self-assessment I will use learner’s reflection on their own learning to reveal their
understanding and precisely locates the gaps and difficulties that need
intervention. I believe that it is invaluable in distance learning where
you do not get to see learner’s learning in action.

I will send them simple Google Forms survey to learners with internet
capabilities or hardcopy of questionnaires to those who don’t have
internet access. This can then develop into more extended written
reflections or the use of a self-assessment rubric. Learners could also
record verbal statements or include reflective captions as part of a
portfolio.
2. Portfolios I will use Portfolio-making which is a perfect assessment tool for
distance education.

To learners who have access to internet, I will use One Note or Google
Classroom to set up a designated portfolio space for each learner.
Alternatively, I could set up schedule of submission to the school by
their parents for those who do not have internet.
3. Written Communication as part of distance learning either one or two-way
Presentation communication, communication within a group, verbal, written and
non-verbal communication.

I will require my learners to submit essays, reports, reflective paper,

etc. that can align with the skills sets of intended Learning Outcomes.

This can be submitted to the teacher once a week as per distribution of

the next SLMs.
4. Illustrated manual I will task my learner to prepare illustrated manual on performing
procedures and demonstrating techniques, example, computation,
taking readings, using equipment, carrying out instructions, etc.

This can be submitted through drawings, clip arts and other illustrative
materials that is available in their homes which is to be submitted once
a week.

1. Checklist I will use checklist (ECD Checklist) as an assessment tool for distance
learning.
I will send my parents/guardian a copy of checklist of activities.
Through observation the process of systematically viewing and
recording child’s behavior while doing their activity. The use of
checklist may occur during the activity time or at certain period as key
behaviors or expectations are observed.

2. Portfolios I will use Portfolio-making which is a perfect assessment tool for

distance education.

A selective, reflective and collaborative collection of student’s work

that demonstrates the range and depth of the student’s achievement,
competencies and skills overtime across a variety of contexts.
Portfolios are often kept as records of student progress in all learning
areas.

To learners who’s parents have access to internet, I will use One Note
or Google Classroom to set up a designated portfolio space for each
learner. Alternatively, I could set up schedule of submission to the
school by their parents for those who do not have internet.
3. Demonstration I will use demonstration as an assessment strategy in which students
demonstrate their competence by performing specific skills.

I will request parents/guardians to document the performance of the

child via video while doing a specific skill or task that is being ask
intended for learning outcomes.

This can be submitted to the teacher once a week as per distribution of

the next SLMs.
4. Learning Log I will assign parents/guardians/tutor to record the ongoing performance
of the child while working on a task or assignment for that day.
