Who is the artist’s name? What did the author wanted to express through this artwork?

Name the artist Frida Kahlo.

I wanted to state the official cause of death which was a pulmonary embolism.

He wanted to leave a hidden feeling in this work, he wanted them to see her soul through art.

She expressed all the feelings she had in a wonderful work of art, she left in her work of art a hope of life.

Activity 1

Most of Frida’s work was about her identity and where she was from. She created many
paintings about it, but also did a lot of writing. Make a time line about her biography and name the
most 5 artworks, include writing works.

Activity 2
meeting, you will present the artwork and explain information you checked on it before the class.

1. Take a picture of your version of Frida’s artwork


2. Write 5 ideas that explain:
a) what she wanted to express
b) when it was created
c) the sociocultural context
d) why did you choose that artwork
e) what material did you use to personify or recreate your Frida’s artwork.

Solución actividad 2
what he portrays in the work Self-portrait with a necklace of thorns. He will
use natural symbols for this and will combine Christian and indigenous values.

The necklace of thorns, like a crown of Christ, represents the strangulation


and the wounds caused by Rivera's betrayal. From these branches hangs the
dead body of a hummingbird, a symbol of "luck in love" according to Mexican
tradition or a symbol of Huitzilopochtli, god of war. The hummingbird is
stalked at the same time by a black cat, a bad omen, which perches on Frida's
left shoulder.

On the right shoulder, the domestic monkey that Diego Rivera would have
given him. The monkey, playing, pulls the collar, causing the thorns to sink
into his chest. Around the main characters, a universe of butterflies and
dragonflies represent the resurrection.
