Name Edward Joseph T. Adriano Section Humss B-12 Score ____________________________

Answer the following based on what you learned. Answer it briefly with your own words.
1. How does a metamorphic rock change into another type of metamorphic rock?

To change it into another type of metamorphic rock you have to reheat it and bury it deeper again
beneath the Earth’s surface.

2. An igneous rock can become a metamorphic rock; how can this happen?

Igneous rocks become metamorphic wen massive amounts of heat and pressure are applied to an
igneous rock and it compacts.

3. Explain how sediments are formed?

Sediments is often formed when weathering and erosion break down a rock into loose material in a
source area.

4. Explain the rock cycle.

Igneous rock can change into sedimentary rock or into metamorphic rock. Sedimentary rock can change
into metamorphic rock or into igneous rock. Metamorphic rock can change into igneous or sedimentary
rock.
Igneous rock forms when magma cools and makes crystals. Magma is a hot liquid made of melted
minerals. The minerals can form crystals when they cool. Igneous rock can form underground, where the
magma cools slowly. Or, igneous rock can form above ground, where the magma cools quickly.
