CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION AND ITS BACKGROUND

Online schools are made to teach students through online or internet. It was

made for people to learn in front of their gadgets by just staying at home without

going outside. Live2D Artificial Intelligence is made by programmers and artists

which is a modeled character that looks alive for its movements and talking. It can

come with different characters whether it’s non-fictional characters like Pewdiepie,

Kanye West and Duterte or fictional characters like Naruto, Ichigo and Natsu.

Kids nowadays are very fond of their gadgets. Because of the rise of the

internet, most kids goes through online for surfing and gaming to the extent that they

are starting to forget about studying. One of the reasons why kids don’t want to go to

school is because of bullying according to a study from

bullying, some parents are forced to enroll their kids to an online school for home

studying. But studying on online schools doesn’t usually nurture the minds of kids

just like in public and private schools. They can just skip a class since it’s online. If

the parents forces their kids to learn even though we know that most kids nowadays

doesn’t enjoy studying since it only torture their minds., they will not enjoy online

schools.

People nowadays don’t know about online school. Parents would push their

children to learn on schools. That’s why most people don’t know the power of online

schools. The power of 1 is to 1 teacher-student learning. The power of entertainment

in learning.

In order to encourage the kids to learn on online schools, the study proposes a plan

to create a Live2D AI in replace to teachers. A Live2D AI will compose of multiple

characters for the kids to choose who will teach them. The Live2D AI will contain

thousands or millions of codes composing of the lessons to be learned by the kids.

The Live2D AI will contain realistic movements and voice acting. The quizzes and

exam will be a game made by the Live2D AI and it will reward the kids based on

what they want.

The purpose of this study is to blend studying with entertainment. Most kids

nowadays like Anime, Cartoons and Games. They don’t enjoy studying much now.

With this combined, Live2D AI is created. Kids being fond of Internet, Games and

Anime/Cartoons will enjoy studying with the Live2D AI.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The study will be conducted with the aim to determine the effectivity of

Live2D AI to the students and learners. The quantitative assessment efforts are

guided by the goal to explore and individual experience on how they learn with the

Live2D AI.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study seeks to determine the Effectiveness of Live2D AI in Home

Teaching.

Specifically, it sought answers in the following:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

a. age

b. gender

2. How effective is Live2D AI in teaching the learners?

3. What is the effect of Live2D AI to the students?

This project focuses on how effective the Live2D AI will affect the learning

of shut-in students compared to students on public/private schools and other online

schools. This aims to encourage kids to learn on school while being entertained and

not pressured.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

To the programmers, the project will benefit them with the money they need

for living. With the implementation of Live2D AI, they will earn money for coding

on how the project will work.

To the parents, the project will benefit them with ease and non-stress life.

The parents will expect properly learned children with the implementation of this

project.

To the students, the project will benefit them with knowledge and the future

they want. With entertainment implemented in their learning, they will be able to

learn without worrying about stress.

To the community, the project will benefit them with well-balanced

population on establishments. Most schools today are having problems with

overpopulation on students. This project can let the students stay at home and go to

the internet in order to learn.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Artificial Intelligence (AI) - is a term for simulated intelligence in machines. These


machines are programmed to "think" like a human and mimic the way a person acts.

Internet - a global computer network providing a variety of information and


communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized
communication protocols.

Live2D - is a CG animation tool that lets creators build a virtual 2D model


composed of raster texture assets and flat polygons mapped on top for defining
motions.

Online School (virtual school or e-school or cyber-school) - teaches students


entirely or primarily online or through the internet.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Live2D is a CG animation tool that lets creators build a virtual 2D model

composed of raster texture assets and flat polygons mapped on top for defining

motions. It is a radically different approach to animation as compared with the

traditional 3DCG modeling, but it has strongly appealed to those creators and

consumers favoring 2D graphics over 3DCG, particularly in the gaming industry.

NAMCO BANDAI Games is one of the game publishers who has

aggressively employed the technology and released many Live2D-powered titles.

With Summon Night 5, the company took a step even further and tried something

completely new, which was to integrate nearly 50 Live2D-modeled characters and to

render multiple characters simultaneously in a single screen.

Artificial intelligence today is properly known as narrow AI (or weak AI), in

that it is designed to perform a narrow task (e.g. only facial recognition or only

internet searches or only driving a car). However, the long-term goal of many

outperform humans at whatever its specific task is, like playing chess or solving

equations, AGI would outperform humans at nearly every cognitive task.

Computer scientists have created a deep-learning, software-coding

application that can help human programmers navigate the growing multitude of

often-undocumented application programming interfaces, or APIs. The researchers

based Bayou on a method called neural sketch learning, which trains an artificial

neural network to recognize high-level patterns in hundreds of thousands of Java

programs. It does this by creating a “sketch” for each program it reads and then

associating this sketch with the “intent” that lies behind the program.

This past week I had the opportunity to partner with a local school for the

Hour of Code. With the trust and support of the educators, I gave myself a new goal:

spend the Hour of Code teaching and coding the basic concepts of Artificial

Intelligence and Machine Learning with 5th and 6th graders — and without the help

of any technology, I was left to use Starbursts instead. If I could successfully distill

the concepts of A.I. and Machine Learning to a group of 5th graders without relying

on any technology, it could create a very compelling case for how unnecessary

According to the study of Ignasi Capdevila, an Associate Professor in

Management & Strategy, Technology still cannot simulate human intelligence to

solve complex problems, in a variable environment and with partial information. But

it is getting closer. An example is the case of autonomous vehicles, able to make

optimal decisions in real time, thanks to complex algorithms that take into account

multiple data.

According to the study of Stephanie Stoll, a PhD Candidate in Computer

Vision, Artificial intelligence is used at all stages of performance assessment. First, a

convolutional neural network (CNN) extracts information from the video about the

pose of your upper body. A CNN is a type of AI loosely based on the processing

done by the visual cortex in your brain. Your skeletal pose information and the

original video is then sent to the hand shape analyser, where another CNN looks at

the video and pulls out hand shape information at each point in the video. The

skeletal information and hand shapes are then sent to a hand motion analyser, which

uses something called a Hidden Markov model (HMM). This type of AI allows us to

model the skeleton and hand shape information over time. It then compares what it

has seen to a reference model which represents the perfect version of that sign, and

produces a score of how well it matches.

According to the study of Michael Hartmann, an Associate Professor of

Photonics and Quantum Sciences, The human brain has amazing capabilities making

it in many ways more powerful than the world’s most advanced computers. So it’s

not surprising that engineers have long been trying to copy it. Today, artificial neural

networks inspired by the structure of the brain are used to tackle some of the most

difficult problems in artificial intelligence (AI). But this approach typically involves

building software so information is processed in a similar way to the brain, rather

than creating hardware that mimics neurons. We need much more advanced AI if we

want it to help us create things like truly autonomous self-driving cars and systems

for accurately managing the traffic flow of an entire city in real-time. Many attempts

to build this kind of software involve writing code that mimics the way neurons in

the human brain work and combining many of these artificial neurons into a

network. Each neuron mimics a decision-making process by taking a number of

input signals and processing them to give an output corresponding to either “yes” or

“no”.

According to the study of Terrence Sejnowski, a Director of the

Computational Neurobiology Laboratory, The future won’t be made by either

humans or machines alone – but by both, working together. Technologies modeled

on how human brains work are already augmenting people’s abilities, and will only

get more influential as society gets used to these increasingly capable machines.

Deep learning is the part of AI that has made the most progress in solving complex

problems like identifying objects in images, recognizing speech from multiple

speakers and processing text the way people speak or write it. Deep learning has also

proven useful for identifying patterns in the increasingly large data sets that are

being generated from sensors, medical devices and scientific instruments.

According to the study of Katharine McKinnon, a Mar Senior Research

Fellow, It’s now generally accepted that as artificial intelligence (AI) advances into

fields of work that were formerly considered skilled labour, a huge number of

manual and white collar jobs are likely to disappear. These are the kinds of jobs that

require learning and applying patterns, unemotional calculation and mechanistic

problem solving. Think: medical diagnosis, legal contracts and engineering.

CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods of research that will be employed in this

study. It includes the description of research design, locale of the study and the

instruments and techniques to be used in gathering data collection procedures and

description of respondents.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The study is an experimental that convinces the respondents to determine the

outcome of the study and Effectiveness of Live2D AI in Home Teaching and to

obtain data collect, questionnaire will be distributed to meet the objectives of the

study.

RESEARCH LOCALE

Cagayan National High School, abbreviated as CNHS and locally known as

Cagayan High, is the universal high school of Region 2. It is located in Taft Street,

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Philippines. Established in 1905, it is the oldest public

secondary level school in Cagayan and the province’s premier secondary school.

The school, which is administered by the Department of Education, has

around 10,000 students. There are three curricula: the Restructed Basic Education

Curriculum (RBEC).

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The questionnaire will be the major instrument used in this study so that we

are secure respondents to certain question. The questionnaire that was used in this

study was designed to obtain information on the Effectiveness of Live2D AI in

Home Teaching among the students of Cagayan National High School Senior High.

RESPONDENTS

The respondents of this study are the students of Cagayan National High

School-Senior High for the school year 2018-2019.

SAMPLING

On this study the researcher will used a convenient sampling that can easily

help us to summarize and interpret the data we need.

DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE

The selected students of Cagayan National High School-Senior High will

answer the questions regarding to their age, sex, and general weighted average. The

researcher will conduct a second day survey for our research that will be conducted

on (February 21-22, 2019) and float a questionnaire using a convenient sampling

that can easily help us to summarize and interpret the data we need.

DATA ANALYSIS PROCEDURE

To analyze the collected data, the appropriate statistical tool will be used is

______________ formula that will be used to calculate the sample size given the

population size and margin of error.
