Upgrade guide for

BC-5380
Application Software version 1.22

Parts required:
1. Download the upgrade software package from TDP, which includes two folders:

 “BC-5380_IPU_V01.22.00.15895”.

 “BC-5380_Host_V01.22.00.1449”

2. The upgrade parallel cable is needed. The spare code of the cable is 801-3102-
00058-00.

Upgrade notice:
1. Login the IPU (the software to operate the analyzer) and go to
MenuServiceVersion and Config. Information, note down the current
software version. See Figure 1.

The picture is only for demonstrations, and the version information can’t be referred!

 a) If the application software version is V01.04 or higher, you can directly
upgrade the IPU to version V01.22 by using the folder “BC-
5380_IPU_V01.22.00.15895”.
b) Otherwise, if the application software version is V01.03 or lower, please
contact Mindray service department.

2. If your PC operating system is Windows Vista, please check the appendix first,
that would help you insure this upgrade successful.

3. For BC-5380, it’s required to check the internal scanner configuration. Move the
mouse pointer to MenuSetup, check the available options.

a) If there is an option for “Barcode Info”, then the analyzer is equipped with an
internal scanner. See Figure 2.

 b) If there is not such an option, the analyzer has no internal scanner. See
Figure 3.

Service Procedure:
1. Extract the upgrade software package to get the two folders. Please put these
folders right in the root directory, and do make sure the file path does not contain
any other character except English. Open the folder “BC-5380_IPU_V01.22.00.
15895”, run the “setup.exe” to upgrade the IPU to version V01.22. At the end of
the IPU upgrade you will see a dialog window like Figure 4. It’s recommended to
select Replace Unmodified.

2. Before update BC-5380, please connect the upgrade parallel cable as follow.

a) Connect one end of the cable to J3 on the mother board, see Figure 5.

b) Remove the shield on the autoloader board, then connect another end of the
cable to J11 on the autoloader board, see Figure 6.

3. After steps above, please connect the analyzer upgrade software tool with the
analyzer, click the “start” button and run “BC-5380 Auto Hematology Analyze
Analyzer Upgrade” as in Figure 7. Input the service user name and password to
login in. The user name and password are the same as the one for the main unit,
“service” and “Se s700”. Caution: on windows vista, please right click the
“Analyzer Upgrade” and choose to run as administrator. See Figure 8.

 If the original application software version is V01.07 or lower, you may find a
message box (See Figure 9) on the screen after you login.

 1 or 2 minutes later, you can find another message box as Figure 10,

 Please kindly follow the instruction to restart the analyzer, and carefully
notice that in this procedure, you need to wait for at least 2 minutes to
reload the upgrade software.
4. Click the “start” button and run “analyzer upgrade” again, login with the service
user name and password, you will find the dialog window as Figure 11:

5. Click “Browse”, go to folder “BC-5380_IPU_V01.22.00.15895”, find the folder

suitable to the analyzer model you are doing with, then choose the folder
“update” inside the corresponding folder, click “OK” to start update. (Please refer
to upgrade notice 3 to check if there is an internal scanner.)
6. You may need to repeat step 4 as per the prompt of the pop-up window.
7. If there is any problem during the upgrade process, please try to re-upgrade as
per the above steps (from step 2 to 6).
8. After the upgrade, check the Version and Config. Information as Figure 12:

Notice:
During the upgrade, there might be some error messages popped out because of
 the temporary inconsistent of IPU and host software, just follow the instructions
above to restart the analyzer and reload the upgrade procedure, the problems
would be gone.

Appendix：

1. Run this patch prior to installing the IPU “upgrade IPU (V01.22)”.

2. Run this patch only if you are using a Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
Check your Vista version: 1) right click the icon “My Computer” on the desktop; 2)
select “Properties” in the pop-up menu; 3) check the Vista version in the
“Properties” window.

3. Do not run this patch if your Vista version is Vista Service Pack 1 or higher.
 Otherwise, double-click the program “dotnetfx35.exe” and proceed according
to the prompt information.
  It takes about 30 minutes to install this patch, please wait.

4. After the installation is completed, install the IPU normally.
