The broken education system is a problem that has been plaguing Bangladesh for a few decades

now. Since our independence in 1971, the education commission has made many changes in the
system & syllabi. Some of the changes were positive while others were rather questionable.
However, fixing the education system has always been a priority of the government. Bangladesh
spends a significant portion of its GDP on the education of the future generation yet the desired
results have not been seen. Even the most academically accomplished students here, perform
poorly in international evaluations. From many research & studies it can be easily seen that is is
not solely a financial problem, although the lack of funds plays a very big role.

There are many hindrances on the way to proper education in our country. A huge portion of the
funds ends up getting tied in bureaucratic red-tape & severe corruption in all levels of
administrations prove to be a challenge in all sectors of the country. Moreover, the central
administration fails to address the specific & varying needs of families in rural & urban areas.
These problems can be solved by decentralization.

A huge number of curriculums & syllabi give rise to more problems than it solves & a unified
standardized system needs to be set. The education system needs to be based on the needs of the
country while keeping the resources in mind. Instead of trying to blindly experiment with the
lives of children, tried and tested methods need to be introduced to small areas first and then
expanded.

The quality, status and salary of teachers must be improved. For our nation to have good
students, it needs good teachers. A single good teacher can have a huge impact on the lives and
future of students. Not just their degrees, rather their personalities need to be suited to teaching
children.

A building with a sign saying school is not enough, rather a good learning environment is
needed. Schools need basic facilities such as water supply, electricity, technology etc. A
welcoming & comfortable environment goes a long way to ensuring attendance.

A number of solutions for the broken education system of Bangladesh have been presented in the
research paper. The goal is free & quality education for all. Decentralized administration,
necessary facilities for a good learning environment & unified syllabus are the most important
changes the system needs. Quality teachers are needed to squash the memorization culture &
introduce innovative thinking among the students. Comparative results and hall exams are
evidently detrimental and
