HOW WILL YOU DEFINE A SOCIETY WITHOUT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY?

If we lost all of the “high tech” stuff many of our species would not
know what to do. Modern popular tech is no longer for the acquisition of
food, but this all many of us now understand. Science is present in
various forms in almost everything that involves our day to day activities
so to possibly live without these aspects would be impossible. If you
meant to live without studying science, that would potentially mean not
understanding how at least 90% of things around you work. Sure you can
still live but you wouldn’t really be able to tell if you were about to do
something detrimental to yourself if you lacked the knowledge. So you
could maybe live without science but for a very and I mean very, short
amount of time.
 Electricity! No electricity for you… This means essentially that
every single gadget in your home that runs on electricity would be
utterly and totally useless. Go right ahead and make a list! Start with
that mobile you’ve been hanging on to most of the day… No
telephone, no internet, no TV, no radio!
 Engines. No car, no truck, no ship, no train and no airplane would
be operating. We’d be back in the days where pure horse-power
would do most of the transport on land. At sea, the ships would have
to rely on wind and sails. There would be no air transportation.
Travelling would be a tedious and long-lasting affair.
 Medicine. Without “science and technology” we would have a
health care system that would be at the standard of around the 18th
century. A lot of pills, ointments, lotions and tinctures would be very
expensive and wouldn’t even have been invented without science.
Life would be a lot more dangerous for people who get sick.
 Metallurgy and mass production. A lot of the things around you are
made of some kind of metal or alloys. Without science and
technology a lot of them would have never been able to produce. And
without the technology of mass production many of the things you
own would have been quite expensive to buy.
These are just some of the major things that are part of your every day
life. Without science and technology you’d be really quite “back in the
woods”.
