LESSON 1: COURSE OVERVIEW

NAME: APPLE GRACE MARIE S. SCHOOL: CESAR E. VERGARA MEMORIAL HIGH

SEBASTIAN SCHOOL
DESIGNATION: TEACHER III SCHOOL HEAD: ELOISA O. DE LEON

ACTIVITY 1.
Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the following questions.
Write down your insights in your Study Notebook.

1. What is the main delivery of this course?

The main delivery of this course are the self-learning modules itself and conducting LAC
Sessions.

2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the
“new normal”?
I think that this course will provide me with essential knowledge and skills in in delivering my
lessons under the new normal. As a classroom teacher for years, I must admit that everything
will be quite different the way I used to practice my profession. This was not something we
have practiced or learned in college. So, trainings like this should be embraced by educators
like me with all of our hearts for us to be ready for this new normal. This will be helpful on my
part as I was actually thinking weeks before the postponed opening of classes last August 24,
2020 on the “hows” and “what ifs” in the learning delivery modalities. I felt like I was new
again to the profession. So, I am looking forward to end this course with much anticipation on
its positive and most relevant output on my part as a teacher.

3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this
course?

I think that the two support mechanisms of this course are the Modules and Study notebook.
The modules will provide us necessary pedagogics while study notebook will keep track of our
progress as we go through the modules.
ACTIVITY 2.
Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table in your Study Notebook.

1. How will my personal characteristics and circumstances affect (positively or

negatively) my participation in this course?
I think that my personal characteristics of being able to handle challenges brought about by
changes will affect my participation in this course positively especially in terms of dealing with
my students, in providing them with lessons and in handling those who will not be able to cope
with my lessons under the new normal.

The aspect of my personality that I think will affect me negatively in this matter is handling
disappointment. I admit that this is one of my weakness, I get distracted at times when
disappointment hits me. But I know I have to work hard for this.
2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that will
hinder me from completing this course?

I think that positive outlook always helps in any situation, especially in embracing changes.
There were many changes that we have already encountered as it is very inevitable in the
educational system. Though it may seem the biggest changes so far, we really have to work
hard(er) for it and embrace this with much willingness to cope with the new normal.

ACTIVITY 3.
Look for a colleague with whom you would like to discuss your answers and reflections with to the
questions in Activities 1 and 2.
NAME OF COLLEAGUES: MA. ELSA C. PASCUAL
I have shared with my colleague friend Ma. Elsa C. Pascual. I may be senior in teaching, but I am not
ashamed to admit that there is still a lot to learn in the field. Talking to colleagues like her and even with
newbies in the teaching profession still brings me new wisdom to ponder. Sometimes I get to learn from
them too.

LESSON 2: ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC)

ACTIVITY 1.

Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s. 2016 titled
“The Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based Continuing
Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.”

Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write your responses and any other ideas and
reflections in your Study Notebook.

1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016. Rank the
following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:

4 To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students

2 To nurture successful teachers
3 To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
1 To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole

2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and
elaborate.

First challenge I think on having a successful LAC is time management. If this course will be done
outside our teaching hours, most of the time teachers were already tired from doing their task the whole
day and may affect our ability to absorb more during the sessions.

Second is requiring too much outputs within a short period of time. Sometimes it happens in a training
or course. Where unpacking of courses or discussions seem shortened and yet too much output was
expected from participants. Sometimes outputs tend to be given just for the sake of documentation and
not really measures the participants learnings in terms of applying the gained knowledge in the field.

Third is the willingness among participants. I think this is the most difficult one to handle. But still I
believe that the first two factor given above is related to this.:)
