Transportation is defined as the action of transporting someone or something or
the process of being transported. However, transportation is more beyond you can
imagine and gasp for. Transportation from its importance to its history is deeper that
we could have known, analyze and even think about it. Transportation history is quiet
interesting for me because it is amazing how transportation can change a whole city’s
economy in just a single creation of geniuses and great minds such as mentioned in the
reporters videos. It is interesting to compare how technology also changed the
transportation from a horse back carriages to a high and delicate automobiles, from
bicycles to motorcycles, from steam coal trains transformed into bullet trains, from
balanggays to even the greatest high quality ferries, barges and ships and lastly from a
two seat plane into now huge rockets and planes that can travel from one country to the
other or even in space. That was a great transformation of this different kinds of
transportation that I just unravel. It must be amazing to be part of those years where
they are still inventing and searching new devices to incorporate it to our now high
quality transports. Due to its fast and growing evolution the cities must have a good way
on how we can transport products on isolated areas.
Let us all say that transportation is the heart of a city’s growth economy. Here in
Samal City we use the most of the ability of our barges and small motorboats to
transport not just the work force but also important goods, fruits and vegetables.
Without it the transport goodies or even raw materials and without knowing the
technical ways, Samal City will still be a low level city. Our city has relied on this kind of
transportation in order to grow and develop more. Another thing is, in order to compete
or even produce our own products we also use those transportation to give and take out
from the city and because of that the city right now is developing fast not just in a good
relationship in our neighboring cities but also to showcase our own city’s ancestral
creations and culture. In a growing and developing city where I live, I also observed that
even though we have still improvements specially in creating new highways we cannot
really stop accidents. Even in a small town there are also a lot of incidents that happen
every day it may be in the fishing industry or in the narrow roads or on small street
barangays there will always be accidents that includes motorcycles and automobiles.
Despite of all those things it is true that in this sector there will always be a
disadvantage and also advantages.
Nevertheless, I’m starting to like this sector of the engineering branch because I
think it would be an enjoying and adventurous sector. Especially here in my beloved
Samal City where the economy is developing fast both in tourism and the transprotation
sector. As far as I know they are currently holding and planning to construct a bridge
from Samal City to Davao Region in order to have a smooth transport for critical
patients that our local hospital cannot handle. This is the main reason why they cannot
delay the construction of this dreamed project of the Samaleños. I’m hoping that I can be
part of the team of this near future bridge project and I hope I will apply the things not
just the importance and history of transportation but also how it would be applied,
studied and understand on the normal people in a engineering aspect way. In the end,
transportation is really an important aspect of our daily needs and daily lives as if it is
like a heart function of the city’s development and also our development us a society.
