TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Abstract

This report describe a video on how technology use in education in other countries
and how Malaysia using technology in education.

INTRODUCTION

Technology is everywhere. It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn. Technology has important effects on education
operation. The term "21st-century skills" is generally used to refer to certain core competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical
thinking, and problem-solving that advocates believe schools need to teach to help students thrive in today's world. So, technology giving the
best way to students to learning. The video tittle, ‘classroom observation part 3 : place value Kahoot’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=PUn32w29OK4 shows one of the way how technology used in classroom as the teaching aids.

HOW TECHNOLOGY USE IN EDUCATION

In this video, the teacher uses an application named ‘KAHOOT’. Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform, used as educational
technology in schools and other educational institutions. Its learning games, "Kahoots", are multiple-choice quizzes that allow user generation
and can be accessed via web browser. This one of the best way especially for primary school kids. From this video, I can see that the kids
enjoying their learning process with this game based learning.

Kahoot! can be used to review students' knowledge, for formative assessment, or as a break from traditional classroom activities. Kahoot!
also includes trivia quizzes. I can see how excited the kids with holding their tablets, handphone and laptop in their hand. I am very sure the
internet connection, the tools such as tablet, laptop handphone must be in an extremely good condition. Teacher creates question based on what
he or she taught. Then, teacher gives the PIN number to the kids to access the quizzes. Once, the quiz starts students started to answer the
questions. Every end of each question, students will get their marks. This might make the students excited with and improve their skill. This
make the students to excite during learning process. At the end of the game, students will get the marks and get to know their ability in that
specific topic. And also, students will get presents from their teachers.

HOW TECHNOLOGY USES IN EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA

Since Malaysia always emphasis on 21st century learning, technology plays an important roles to fulfil their objectives. Ministry of
Education of Malaysia, bringing up a lot of programmes and ideas to improve our education system thru technology. Sadly, teachers couldn’t
apply those ideas into learning process. Only few schools, few teachers are applying those idea in schools. First of all, teachers are using Frog-
VLE during their lesson. Where, teachers bring their students to computer lab to access this Frog-VLE. Students start to answer the question
given to them. All the questions are usually based on what teacher has taught. Sadly, sometimes the internet connection might distract.
Sometimes the internet speed might extremely slow. These distraction make the students not to show their interest on this learning process.

Sometimes, teacher unable to give some homework in computer. This is because, not all the students with either computer or laptop at
home. Some yes, some no. Even some of notebook given by the MOE, couldn’t even on and functional. These are some of the distraction face
by teachers and students at the school.

CONCLUSION
Technology use in education one of the best ideas to improve of education system and it help the students and prepare the students to face the
future. We are as a teachers must get involves with the technology to prepare ourselves and students to face the future.
