language helps build meaning and understanding.

We use figurative language to give assistance to the readers or audience in understanding

what we are trying to describe. It is really necessary to help us build better interpretation and
comprehension. The use of figurative language creates an effective and engaging way to
communicate through the written and spoken word. It also assists the reader to understand the
primary representation of a scene or more specifically identify a literary theme.

Like for instance, the Metaphors. The phrase that was narrated in the video, “the long
sleep, the pain would never mar again” emphasizes that no one will any longer suffer which in
fact the long sleep means death to create a metaphor. Figurative language helps speak to a
reader's feelings and it is used to help readers utilize their senses to raise their understanding. It
can transform ordinary descriptions into powerful meanings and improve the expressive
implication of passages.
