LESSON TITLE: World War I New Technologies SUBJECT AREA: Modern World History

GRADE LEVEL: 9th TIME ALLOCATION: 1 hour 30 minutes

FOCUS FOR LEARNING: OBJECTIVES (MEASURABLE GOALS/TARGETS with active verbs):


- Students will be able to summarize the impact new technologies had on World War I and war in general at
this point in history.
- Students will be able to describe various World War I technologies and weapons.

- Modern World History #12 – Advances in technology, communication and transportation improved lives, but
also had negative consequences

 Students have been observed in lessons before this to see what learning style they use and what
teaching style I should use that would work best for them. This lesson includes class discussion and
group work so they will be learning different ways.

 World War I would have been briefly taught in lessons before this one. Industrialization and imperialism
have been talked about before this lesson and students will have learned the transition from those topics
to World War I.

INDUCTION (introduction to lesson) TIME ALLOCATIONS: 10 minutes


- For the introduction of this lesson, a picture of a World War I

the lesson on technology and see if we need to go over anything again or clear something up.
