VIII. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The INSET was conducted for three days, October 23, 25 and 26. There were
different resource speakers invited for the seminar-workshop. On the first day of the
seminar, October 23, 2018, there were three experts who shared their knowledge to
the faculty. In the morning was Mr. Sanny E. Lopez who taught the teachers new
method in doing item analysis using “Zipgrade”. Aside from that, part of the zipgrade
is the automated checking of papers through scanning which will make teachers
work easier. The teachers enjoyed the first session since it was so informative and
new to them. It was very timely with today’s technological innovation which greatly
affects the educational system of our country. This gave the teachers new hope of
doing their job in an easier manner. The second speaker was Mr. Armando D. Ison
who talked about Research Proposal. Mr. Ison presented research in the most easy
and funny way using different “hugot lines”. The teachers enjoyed the session and
became interested in drafting their own research paper. The seminar gave
clarification on how basic research is different from an action research. In the
afternoon of the same day, Mrs. Josephine Rolle tackled a review on test
construction, she presented different words that can be used to classify the test as to
Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate and Create. The seminar-
workshop was a good venue for the teachers to reflect the way they construct the
examination given to their students. The teachers realized that test construction
greatly affect how the students will understand and analyze the exam. A good
constructed test has a great chance of getting good scores from the students.

The second day of the INSET was equally informative with the first day. The
first speaker was Mr. Alexander M. Morron Jr. who discussed Statistical Methods of
Research. It was a very interesting and informative session, although teachers have
difficulty grasping some of the statistical methods presented. Mr. Ison gave a copy of
his presentation files so the teachers can review the topics which are still vague to
them. He also suggested that teachers can tap the help of the Math teachers in the
school if they have problem applying or solving for any statistical treatment they will
be using in their study. The second speaker was Ms. Meline O. Lagman which
discussed the importance of financial literacy. It was an eye opener to everyone who
attended the seminar. Everyone is encouraged to invest and prepare for their future.
The teachers learned so much of how they can protect their income and how they
can earn more. After the session, most of the teachers are interested to invest, they
have asked so many questions regarding investment, but due to time constraint not
all the questions are addressed, so Ms. Lagman gave her contact number so the
teachers can contact her if there are still questions and if they consider investing.
The third day, the teachers met a very young, goal oriented and intelligent
speaker. Ms. Nessa Ampie P. Lopez, she is so young yet very successful in the field
of research. She inspired the teachers to do action research. She presented a
detailed step by step process in doing action research; she also showed examples of
action research. Aside from this, Ms. Lopez gave her time checking the action
research title of each subject area. Teachers became so excited that almost
everyone likes to ask her questions. Everyone was inspired by Ms. Lopez to start
considering research as part of their educational duty.

Overall, it was indeed a great training for all the teachers in Francisco P
Tolentino Memorial National High School.
