FOREWORD

Praise the presence of God Almighty for all his graces so that this paper can be compiled to
completion. Do not forget, we also thank you very much for the help of the Indonesian Language subject
supervisor.

And we hope that this paper can add knowledge and insight for readers as well as in the future it
can improve the form and add to the content of the paper to make it more complete and better.

Because of our limited knowledge and insight. We believe there are still many shortcomings in this
paper. Therefore, we really hope for suggestions and constructive criticism from the Indonesian language
supervisor for the perfection of this paper.

PRELIMINARY

1.1 Background

There is a saying, appearance can describe a person's personality. As well as The best of all things
considered: job application letter, because on average companies or agencies see applicants from the
application letter they submit. Therefore, one of the efforts in terms of self-success so that you can enter and
be accepted in the targeted company, is by looking at the applicant's job application letter. Therefore, we will
discuss in more detail the techniques of writing a job application letter.

1.4 Benefits of Papers

The usefulness of this paper is in addition to fulfilling Indonesian language subject assignments in
order to increase knowledge as well as insight. This paper is also expected to help students be more
skilled in preparing job application letters.

1.5 Systematics of Writing Papers

The systematics of writing Indonesian papers consists of three parts, namely the opening part (paper cover, table
of contents, preface) then the body of the writing (chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3) and the final part (bibliography).

CHAPTER 2

DISCUSSION

2.1 Definition of a Job Application Letter

Application letter The best of all things considered: employment is a letter from a person who needs a job
(applicant) to a person or official of an organization / institution that can provide a job or position. A job application letter
can also be defined as a letter from a prospective employee to a prospective employer that contains a request that the
candidate be given a job by the candidate
employer. On generally a that need profession will
apply after he has received information about vacancies which are usually obtained from friends,
acquaintances, or through newspaper advertisements, the internet and other mass media. Besides
that, someone could too apply in a manner dabbling
without knowing whether there are job vacancies at the agency he is applying for.

The contents are in the form of respectful greetings and a glimpse of ourselves along with attachments as well as

where the job information is obtained

Contains the intent of sending the letter, the position we want, where the graduates come from
and job applications if we have worked in other companies.

5. Cover letter
The contents of this letter cover are photocopies of diplomas, photocopies of KTPs, curriculum vitae, certificates

and recent photographs of us and don't forget to say closing greetings and thank you.

2.3 Elements of a Job Application Letter


Based on this example, you know the elements of a job application letter as follows.

1. Place and Date of Letter


The part of the letter which contains information explaining the place or location and time of
writing the letter. An example is as follows.
a) Jakarta, 9 March 2015

b) Medan, 7 April 2015
c) 17 July 2014

2. Thing

This becomes a matter or case to be discussed in the letter. In letter writing, there is another term,
namely subject. Proper writing is my thing. Subject becomes ambiguous because the particle fairy
has a meaning. If interpreted to mean "things about things", the word subject becomes ambiguous.
Therefore, the use of the word thing is more appropriate to be part of the letter element. An
example is as follows.

a) Subject: Job Vacancies


b) Subject: Village Head Meeting Invitation

3. Attachment

This part of the letter becomes an explanation for the documents included in the letter.
Attachments are also written by stating the number of files or documents included. An example is
as follows.
a) Attachment: 1 file
b) Attachments: 2 sheets

4. Mailing address

In writing letters, address inclusion is divided into two types, namely external and internal addresses. The

outer address is written on the cover or envelope of the letter. This address serves to make it easier for

couriers or postmen to deliver the letter. This external mailing address is written clearly and completely,

namely the name of the person or institution to which it is addressed, the name of the street and number, the

name of the city, and the postal code.

2.4 Characteristics of a Job Application Letter

The characteristics of a good and correct job application letter are as follows.
1. Compact and Solid
A good job application letter is one that can convey our various strengths and abilities, but in
a language that is not long-winded. Because it requires the ability to write well and still be
understood by our reading opponents. Writing with the correct structure will help you place
the parts of the letter. Where you will write down information sources, personal data and
various relevant abilities that you have. Also, consider using proper formatting such as
spacing between spaces and effective use of sentences.

2. Try to Answer Questions
One tip you can try is to compile a job application letter based on questions. The concept is to
construct 5W and 1H questions ( The best of all things considered: what , where , when , who,
why , and The best of all things considered: how ). Arrange a conceptual framework with these
questions, then try to answer them with the correct structure for a job application letter. A good
job application letter will ideally be able to answer all of those questions. Starting from why you
are applying, what company you are applying for, what are you able to provide and so on. It is
hoped that with a cover letter like this, the company will judge if our quality is really needed by
the company.

3. Pay attention to allure


Remember if the job vacancy you are looking for is contested by many or even thousands of
applicants, therefore you must consider the attractiveness of the job application letter that
you send. The HRD team or part of the company in charge of recruiting new employees will
receive many job applications at one time, if your job application letter is of no better quality
than others, don't expect your job application letter to be accepted. Use creativity in
composing a good and attractive job application letter. At least by using the correct and
precise letter structure has become its main attraction. The rest you can combine it with
various innovations, such as the best paper quality or print quality.

4. Recognize Company Character

Get to know the field and character you are applying for and put it in your job application. For
example, when you apply for a company engaged in graphic design, you can create an
attractive and colorful job application. Or when you apply for an accounting firm, it's a good
idea to send a well-structured cover letter. By sending a job application letter that matches
the character of the company, you will be judged as a creative and appropriate person in
filling the job vacancy. The bad effect is if you misunderstand the character of the company,
you will be viewed as excessive and ambitious.

5. Convey with Honesty


A good job application letter is one that is able to describe your various abilities. You have to
be careful in writing this, don't let it look quality and load data that is not

right. Being honest is the main point in writing a job application letter, even though your
capacity is not the best but honestly at least you show respect for yourself. Although the
opportunity to work is smaller due to ability, this should be a motivation to continue to
improve. You can clean up and hone various skills needed for various work opportunities in
the future.

2.5 Linguistic Features of Job Application Letter

1. Be polite
Example:

a) For your attention, I thank you (polite).


b) For your attention, I say thank you (not polite).

2. Effective

Example:

a) I am an experienced mechanical engineer, so after reading an ad in the Jawa Pos daily,


20 February 2017 I submitted a job application (ineffective).

b) After I read the advertisement in the Jawa Pos daily, 20 February 2017, I submitted a job
application (effective)

3. Standard or according to EYD rules

A. Subject or Subject of the Letter

The first word of the letter principal in a job application letter is written in capital letters.
Example:
a) Subject: Job application (true).
b) Subject: job application (wrong).

B. Attachment

Attachments usually include the amount of something attached which is written in letters instead
of numbers and followed by units.
Example:

a) Attachments: 3 sheets (wrong).


b) Attachments: Three sheets (correct).

C. Place and Date of Letter


a) Place
Regency name which states where the letter is written in capital letters.

b) Date
The date of writing a letter consists of the date written in Arabic numerals correctly,
the month written in complete and precise letters, and the year which is written
completely and accurately. The place and date are written, separated by a comma.
For example Bantul, 22 May 2009.

D. Mailing Address

A letter address usually begins with a short, written tribute, namely, Yth. Followed by the position of
the authorized official in accordance with the contents of the letter, name of the institution / agency,
and the address of the agency which is completely and accurately written, starting with a capital
letter, without ending with a period.

E. Content of letter

The contents of the letter should not be too long or too short. Common information contained
in the contents of a job application letter is the source of job information, the identity /
description is briefly summarized, thanks for the recruiter's attention and also expressions of
hope if necessary.

F. Closing
Greetings generally use the sentence "With Respect", "Assalamualaikum" or "Salam
Sejahtera" ending with a comma (,).

G. Signature and Clear Name


Fill in the signature clearly with proportional measurements. Use dark and neutral ink
colors (black / blue). The full name is written right below the signature, fill in the full
name and title.

2.6 Prepare a Job Application Letter Based on Advertisements

An example of a job application letter based on a job advertisement in the newspaper is one
type of application letter, only in this example it is more specified that the source of job
information that we get is from newspapers or daily. A good job application letter is one that
describes you and your abilities. Try to keep the words short, concise and clear. The use of
persuasive words is also okay but don't overdo it.

2.8 Preparation of Job Application Letters based on PEUBI


How to make a job application letter that is good and correct according to EYD The best of all things considered: are as follows.

1. Use language that is good, correct and appropriate to EYD because HRD is more respectful of
standard Indonesian.
2. Avoid long-winded writing and always use polite sentences in every sentence The best of all things
considered: application letter .

3. Get used to writing job application letters by hand using a ballpoint pen. Because
handwriting is more recommended and can reflect a person's personality even though
nowadays there are many sophisticated tools for writing it.

4. Multiply the things that can support the application letter, such as certificates of
expertise, certificates or courses. This will provide consideration for superiors.

2.9 Writing Curriculum Vitae in Job Application Letter


The points that must be considered in making a curriculum vitae are as follows.

1. If the employer asks applicants to write a curriculum vitae by hand, try to write it in your own
hand. There should be no scribbling on your paper and try to use black or blue ink.

2. Try to write a curriculum vitae in a coherent manner, from primary to tertiary education.

3. If you have non-formal education, also include in what year you attended that education.

4. You also need to include your career journey along with the year in which you started your
career, as well as the position occupied.
5. Be honest when filling out a resume. Adjust to your current condition and what it is.

2.10 Characteristics of Linguistic Curriculum Vitae

1. The language used is standard language.


2. Name of person, name of place, name of month, name of university should be written in capital letters.

3. Writing date of birth is adjusted, for example "place (comma) date of birth" then the contents must also
be adjusted using a comma and according to the order. If you use a slash line, for example, "place /
date of birth" then the content will also be "Tasikmalaya / April 20, 1995".

3.1 Conclusion

A job application letter is an application to get a job or position. Many do not find jobs, not because
they lack the ability, but because they are unable to write job application letters properly. Usually there are
three things to consider in writing a job application letter, namely the identity of the applicant, the
qualifications of the applicant, and the applicant's complete data. Therefore writing a job application letter is
important so that we can apply for jobs properly.

3.2 Suggestions

Thus, I hope that the many guidelines for writing a job application letter can be a further lesson
when making future job application letters better and paying attention to writing ethics.
