CONNECTION DIAGRAM M535-E234 7 3.4.2 HIGH VOLTAGE CABLES CONNECTION Procedure of connecting high voltage cables is as follows. (@) Make sure of turning off all power switches. (b) Wipe the surface of the Cable heads and the Sockets with dry cloth, (Be careful not to use organic chemical for cleaning.) (©) Apply oil (as an aocessory for High Voltage Cable) to the surface of Silicone rubber jacket. (Or apply Insulating grease to the surface of Silicone rubber jacket thinly (0.2~0.3mm ). (d) Confirm that "Silicone washers" are attached to the front side of Plugs ('ef. to Fig.4), and put the Cable heads into the Sockets in accordance with each “Key” position. (€) Screw up the Ring nuts by hand, and tighten them completely. Then screw up the Locking ‘screws on Ring nuts. Front "Key" ‘Silicone rubber jackot Ring Fig.4. HIGH VOLTAGE PLUG WARNING Be careful of electric shock. (:+62.5kVp) Execute grounding of the terminals after tuming off all power Switches. This eliminates residual electric charge. M535-h234 8 3.4.3 LOW VOLTAGE CABLE CONNECTION Low voltage cable (#38) is connected with tube housing directly by soldering, (1) Be sure to connect the low voltage cable with the H.V. generator side correctly. (2) Refer to Fig.5 and Table 3 about the details of Low voltage cable. CAUTION Be careful of electric shock. Execute connection of a cable after turning off all power switches. ‘Connector for H, V. generator (female connector) Fig.5._ LOW VOLTAGE CABLE Table 3._Information of Cable Tinename | Colorofwire | Pin No. of connector | | H.V. generator side x White 7 vail | anand Black 2 Zz Blown 3 THt Red 4 TH2 Blue. 5 Earth | Green/yellow | 6 35 ADJUSTMENT 3.5.1 PRECAUTION ON ADJUSTMENT (a) Adjust tube voltage and tube current on the sufficient understanding of the Service Manual for ‘Shimadzu high voltage generator. (b) Be sure to clase the collimator or place an X-ray shielding object before the X-ray radiation port so as to prevent exposure to X-ray, when itis generated a5 234 9 WARNING Be careful of exposure to X-ray ‘Take measures for protection from X-ray. (©) Inthe case where the line frequency is in deviation (except using in combination with the starter controlled by inverter such as SA-40,41 50); if the deviation is up to +10%, the X-ray tube can be used normally ifthe deviation is down to 10%, use the X-ray tube by lowering the rating in proportion to the frequency, (d) Check the high voltage generator thoroughly. The measuring tools such as the timers and meters are required to have sufficient accuracy. (e) Do not impress high tension without flowing the tube current. () When the X-ray tube assembly is newly installed or replaced to new one itis necessary to readjust tube current and monitor tube voltage with @ suitable high voltage bleeder. In the case where the flament characteristic of the replacement X-ray tube is better than the replaced one, for instance, a large tube current flows to cause an overload to shorten the lfe of X-ray tube. Regulate the tube current and tube voltage gradually so that they will assume the specified values to avoid an overload. (g) Use the apparatus with the filament current of less than 5.24. (h) Ifthe apparatus is used with the micro computer controlled high voltage generator, use the parameter shown in INPUT DATA OF NONSTANDARD TUBE DATA MODE. 3.5.2 INITIALAGING ‘After adjustment of tube current, the following aging must be taken. This X-ray tube assembly is ‘special for mobile radiography system, so execute aging by only radiography load. (1) Rise the X-ray tube voltage as follows, and apply the following load at the rate of once in one minute per each voltage. @ 80kV,0.1sec. Ltime © 20kV0.18e0. time 3 The X-ray tube current must be selected © 100kV,0.1sec. «+--+ 1time the value that is determined by a half of @ 110kV,0.1sec. «+-+++2times maximum mA position at each X-ray tube © 115kV.0.1sec 2times voltage. © 120kV,0.1se0, 2times @ 125kV,0.1sec. ------ 2times ‘M585-E234 10 (2) When there is such abnormailty as unstable tube current during the aforementioned aging, lower the tube voltage to where it becomes stable, energize the tube assembly at that point for ‘awhile, and then rise the tube voltage again. 3.6 SAFETY CIRCUIT ‘The thermal switch actuates to stop impressing the high voltage when the temperature of surface of the tube housing reaches about 60°C. 3.7 RADIATION FIELD (@) Lead Diaphragm is mounted in X-ray port to limit X-ray field. Remodeling of its hole or another hole cause lack of radiation field or leakage radiation of X-ray. Don't exchange the part that ‘Shimadzu doesn't designate. Refer to the Fig 6. (©) Specified radiation field is shown in Fig.7. The combined collimator (beam limiting device) limits the radiation field in some case. Use the collimator (normally R-20) that Shimadzu designates or recommends. Fig.6. LEAD DIAPHRAGM ‘M535-E234 u eso sls 1000 | Fig.7. RADIATION FIELD 3.8 MAINTENANCE OF X-RAY TUBE ASSEMBLY Periodical check of the X-ray tube assembly is necessary to maintain its stable performance and Ife for many years, 3.8.1 Appearance ‘Check no oil leakage from the X-ray tube housing. 3.8.2 Safety circuit Check function of this circuit (see Fig,3), continuity of ground terminal wire, etc. Nevertheless, the thermal switch never actuates according to the program of Shimadzu high voltage controller. Should there be the case where the thermal switch actuates, check operation of H. V. generator. 3.8.3 Connection of HV.cables Replace the silicone parts to new one once in about three years. Be sure to replace them whenever X-ray tuble assembly is exchanged. 3.84 Disinfection Use absolute alcohol to disinfect the X-ray tube assembly. ‘M535-E234 12 [APPENDIX Heating & Cooling Curve Heating & Cooling Curve of Anode Nee 2.8 Heat Storage(%) 82 o 2 4 6 6 © 2 % % © m 2 2 2% mw 3 Time(min) Heating & Cooling Curve of X-ray tube assembly X-ray tube assembly heat content (kd) 0 2 40 60 80 100 120 140 160 180 time (min.)
