Materials Needed

Learning Activity 1:

What are students doing?

Each students will receive one piece of candy with each piece representing a different STD

Why is it important?
This can have students become more
educated over how STD’s come
unexpected when practicing unsafe sex as
well as educate them on what each STD is
and if it is curable or not as well as how it
affects the body.
The students will all be given a piece of candy that
represents an STD. From the candy they have received,
they will be put into groups where they research
together what the signs, symptoms, locations, and long-
term effects of their assigned STD is. Then, through a
google presentation slide, The group together will write
down the definition, locations, signs and symptoms, and
long term effects. After it is done, each group will present
their slide. We will then segway into how we can prevent
STDs and other illnesses.

What are students doing?
Having students write five benefits of safe sex practices on an exit ticket.
Why is it important?
Having students review and write five
benefits of practicing safe sex, will allow
them to recognize why being safe is the
best way and help them identify the
negative affects from the lesson.
After the presentations, we will then discuss prevention of
STDs and healthy sex habits that can be practiced. We will
then go through a document as a class that discusses
contraception, family planning, and other healthy habits.
We will also discuss how healthy habits can protect you in
the future. From the document, the students will then write
five benefits of practicing safe sex on an exit ticket to
determine what the students learned from the lesson and
how they think they would feel if they did not have access
to safe sex practices.
