Dear Family,

My name is Ms. Hite and I am so excited to be

your child’s teacher this year! Originally from Ohio, I
moved to Florida and graduated with my degree in
Elementary Education from Stetson University. This is
my first-year teaching, and I am overjoyed to be
growing alongside your child. I value relationships and
find that they play a significant contribution to the
learning community of a classroom. I plan on building
a strong and loving community that supports all
students in their passions and interests. I also believe
in practicing acts of kindness and moments of
mindfulness to create a positive and patient class full
of learners.

This manual reflects my classroom management plan, which will allow us

to be able to have fun hands-on experiences, prompt students to use their new
abilities, and most importantly, have a safe environment for all students. The
manual reviews my classroom rules, procedures, rewards and consequences that
I will be enforcing in and out of the classroom. I expect students to keep hands
and feet to themselves, to raise their hands to speak, to look at authority
figures using active listening skills and to be kind to others by using manners. It
is essential that students follow these rules to allow all students to be heard,
seen and respected in my classroom. I also have procedures such as a morning
routine, dismissal and classroom jobs to get students settled, ready to get home
safe and to build responsibility. If students follow my rules and maintain the
procedures, they will get rewarded using a class money system. Students can
redeem their cash money at the end of the week to buy prizes or save them as
a community for a class trip or experience. Students can also be rewarded with
a “Caught Being Kind” certificate which will be displayed in the hallway. If
students do not follow these rules, they will receive various levels of
consequences.

I will be using Seesaw to communicate with you about assignments,

rewards, and consequences. It will also allow students to post their work that
we complete in the classroom. I will be using this app to discuss important
upcoming events and it will send you reminders! I can’t wait to see your child
thrive in this classroom! If you have any questions or concerns about my
management system, please feel free to contact me through my email or
Seesaw. Thank you again for all your help and support!

All the best,

Lillia Hite

The main form of rewards that I have in my classroom
is classroom money. A student who is seen following
classroom rules will be given classroom money to use it at
the school store on Fridays. If students are showing
exceptional behavior such as walking quietly in the
hallways, being kind to others in the classroom or by lifting
others up with positive words can receive classroom money.
Another form of reward I promote in my classroom is
Caught Being Kind. If I, or another adult hears or notices a
student complimenting another student, cheering another
up when they are down or sharing with one another, they
will receive a tally mark at in a chart. At the end of two
weeks, the student with the greatest number of tallies will
have the option to have lunch with me.
Focusing on class rewards if I feel that students follow
rules and procedures all day long, they will receive a point.
If by the end of two weeks they have 8 points, they get to
vote on a class reward. Class rewards include the following
options: popcorn party, class outside, pizza party, Jell-O
party, movie during lunch or no homework for a day.
If a student is not following a rule, I will give a
warning to the student to correct his or her behavior. If a
student is misbehaving in ways such as touching other
classmates, not respecting school property or other
classmates’ items, I will collect fifty dollars from the
student’s classroom money.
If I have to remind the student again about his or her
behavior, I will ask the student to go to the Mindfulness
Center. The Mindfulness Center is a table where students
can go to calm down for a few minutes and think about
their actions and how they influence others. Students can
go to the Mindfulness Center on their own when they feel
that they need a metal break or if they are feeling
frustrated.
If a student is being disruptive to other students’
learning and safe being while I am teaching, or when he or
she is in the hallway, I will call administration to further
handle the situation.

with my child and will try my best to make sure that my
child meets them.
