Course Description: This course develops an understanding of legal rights and responsibilities in personal
law and business law with applications applied to everyday roles as consumers, citizens, and workers.
Students will have an understanding of the American legal system, courts/court procedures, criminal justice
system, torts, the civil justice system, oral and written contracts, sales contracts and warranties, and
consumer protection. Legal terminology is emphasized. Leadership development will be provided through
FBLA.
2. Students will exhibit courteous behavior at all times. Respectful language and appropriate behavior is
expected.
3. Students WILL NOT have food or drink in the classroom unless “tickets” are used to do so.
4. Students will bring all necessary materials to class everyday (paper, pen/pencil, assignment, etc.).
5. Once class has begun, students will not be leaving the classroom without proper documentation. Hall
passes are at the discretion of the teacher. Each student has a total of eight (8) hall passes for the \
trimester. Students must use the signout sheet for leaving and returning to class. If there is a reason
for a student to leave more often than this, it must be on file in the school office. In addition, if a
student is called by administration from class, this will not count as one of their passes. Once all hall
passes are used, students may purchase additional hall passes with tickets.
6. Students will raise their hand and wait to be acknowledged before leaving their seats for any reason.
Students will not disrupt class in any way. It is expected that students will only have to be told once to
be quiet, to sit down, or to complete assigned work. Students must be awake and actively engaged
during class time.
7. Students will have no distracting items in sight during class (Examples: makeup, mirrors, cards,
pictures, brushes, IPods, etc.).
8. Cell phones are prohibited in class (unless being used by instructor for an assignment/project).
Earphones are prohibited in class without instructor permission and definitely may not be attached
to computers (unless being utilized for a class assignment/project). It is recommended that if a
student is tempted to have the cell phone out, he/she should store it in the pouch in an assigned slot.
Students will receive ONE warning with a phone call home and then a referral will be issued.
8. Honesty in performance and communication is expected. A zero will result on any assignment where
dishonesty occurs as well as further disciplinary consequences according to Kenton County guidelines.
10. Maintaining equipment and work area is the responsibility of the student. Problems should be
reported promptly to the teacher. Intentional damage will result in monetary reimbursement.
11. Parent(s)/Guardians should contact teacher through phone or email (on front of syllabus) with any
questions/concerns regarding student progress in class.

After school:
Report to appropriate lab immediately on the appropriate day and time (see first page of syllabus).
Sign in with teacher.
Return all materials to the appropriate area before leaving (if applicable).
Leave workstation in an orderly manner.
Sign out with teacher when leaving
Storage Usage
No foreign USBs or CDs are permitted into the lab without teacher supervision and permission. When directed,
students will use “Google Drive” to save work. Students should not save any work on the computer. If work is saved
on the computer through a required assignment, be sure to “upload” the work to your Google drive.
Any missing work due to the failure to save correctly will need to be completed again by the students in order to
receive credit.
