MODULE 5: DISCUSSION

The HR conducted a research to compare the different job satisfaction experienced

by old and young employees in the company. A pilot research was made to test the
hypothesis. 10 older adults (over the age of 70) and 10 younger adults (between 20
and 30) were give a job satisfaction test (known to have high reliability and
validity). Scores that range from 0 to 60 with high scores shows high job
satisfaction while low scores indicative of low job satisfaction. The following data
are presented below. Find the appropriate t-test.

Find the appropriate t-test.

1. What would be the null hypothesis in this study?

 Ho: µA=µB
2. What would be the alternate hypothesis?
 Ha: µA≠µB
3. What is your tcrit?
 tcrit = 2.10

4. Is there a significant difference between the two groups? Interpret your answer.
 The t-value is greater than the t-critical value thus, we reject the null
hypothesis. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that there is a significant
difference between the job satisfaction of older employees and younger
employees.
