Step 2- Chapter 1 of a research project - Delivery of the activity

By Jose Luis Sanchez Perdomo.

1. General background

This project is fundamental for the advancement of the Colombian educational

community, since it involves the educational system, the teacher and students
in general.

Is it possible to integrate social networks in the teaching of English?

If it is possible to use social networks, because young people belong to a

digital age that breaks with the reading and writing processes that schools
have taught for decades

Web 2.0 and 3.0 tools allow teachers to create their own digital content, share
it with their students, and create information and consultation banks for other
teachers or students. These banks are immediate emails with which you can
learn a language in an interactive and fun way, implementing ICTs in the
teaching of the English language in a dynamic way.

This research is important as it allows the use of tools, in this case, social
networks together with ICTs and turn them into study tools in a dynamic,
didactic and fun way in order for young people to connect and learn English.

2. Statement of problems

Currently, 5 out of 10 people in the world make use of the Internet and social
networks, therefore, it is important that universities and educational centers in
general apply them in the Pensum and are used in such a way that students can
benefit from them for their training, personal development and learning a new
language.

Our digital age offers 2.0 and 3.0 tools that allow teachers to prepare classes
and provide feedback for the development of student skills.

3. Research objectives

Encourage students to learn English by applying ICTs to pedagogical

processes.

Train teachers in the use and applications of ICTs in the teaching and learning
process of the English Language in educational communities.

Create a web page regarding the ICT implementation processes.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the educational software of the UNAD university

using online evaluations of our educational education.

Improve the results of external tests, with respect to the degree program in
English.

4. Limitations of the research

Tool and connectivity to the network. In the results of the activities in the
VMs, constant problems were observed in relation to the platforms.

5. Significance of the study

Through educational resources that we currently have on hand, we have

infinite advantages such as repetition of activities, individual and collaborative
work, motivation and entertainment, learning from mistakes, acquisition of
technological skills, interactivity, multimedia, authenticity.
In our methodology in learning English through tics, each student must
develop their critical thinking, through reasoning and skills when solving
problems.

6. Definition of term

The appropriation of these contents are relevant to the interests of the

students.

The study system at UNAD is an innovative system which homologates the

transfer of credits and is based on learning by means of which the teaching /
learning environments are proposed and redesigned to include face-to-face
classes to totally virtual ones.

The great utility in teaching activities where the teacher becomes a facilitator
of information in foreign languages.

Our methodology allows the use of online newspapers, podcasts, social

networks and blogs in real contexts that facilitate the use of the language.

Participants: the sample of this study are the UNAD students who apply to
the degree program in English and systems engineering.

Sampling: the type of sampling is non-probabilistic, which refers to the fact

that the researcher selects according to his own criteria, without any rule or
statistic, Carrasco (2010).

Type of research: The type of research of this research is technological, whose

purpose is to produce and experiment with technology through techniques,
programs, materials and equipment.
