Chapter 7
The crew was tying the whale they had hunted to the side of the ship, they could hardly make it. After a
while Captain Ahab approached the whale’s body to "talk" to her and tell her where Moby Dick was,
many of the crew saw him as if he was crazy. Then the crew met a ship called the Rosebud and sharedin
formation about the white whale, that’s where Stubb played a sick joke on Captain Ahab.
Chapter 8
There was not much amusement in the ship, until one day they spotted a whale and went to hunt it,
but as one of the rowers of the boats was wounded from his arm, they sent a poor and small crew
member named Pip in his replacement. This little guy was really scared to do this job, he was forced
to do it, so when they were hunting the whale, and the young sailor was frightened and fell from the
boat thus drifting into the sea. Stubb very furious ordered him to be recaptured and warned him
that if he again became frightened that way and fell again, he would be left there. The days passed
and there was another event where the crew spotted another whale and went on their hunt, sent
young Pip back to the rowing boats, but unfortunately the young sailor got scared again and let the
whale escape, and as Stubb promised, this time they didn’t rescue him.
Chapter 9
They had a day of bad weather, where it never stopped raining, thunder was heard, etc. A bolt of
lightning fell on the main pole of the Pequod. Ahab said they had to go east, which is where the
white whale was. Starbuck went to Ahab’s cabin and took a musket while he was sleeping. Pointing
to Ahab, Starbuck said he was going to kill him, that the captain wanted the crew dead, but in the
end he didn’t shoot. Another day they heard a shout from a boy, who turned out to be Pip, who
threw himself into the sea, and wanted to return to the ship. Ahab heard the screams and went to
save Pip for the second time.
Chapter 10
Early in the morning Ahab had finally located the white whale, so the gold doubloon was for the
captain. Starbuck stayed at the Pequod on Ahab’s orders, because the first officer had a wife and a
son. The Filipinos of Ahab were the first to take action. Already in the boats they were waiting an
hour until the whale came out again, thanks to the hawks they knew when the whale came, because
the birds were getting on top of it. Moby Dick opened his mouth wide and the whale’s jaws closed
around Ahab’s boat, which was split in two in an instant.
