Book page 47 exercise 1:

1. Why are sperm whales more dangerous than other kinds of whales?
Sperm whale are known as the most dangerous whale in the Leviathan Greenland. Also
according to zoologists, the sperm whale is feared by all other creatures in the sea, including
sharks.

2. What characteristics distinguished Moby Dick from other Sperm Whales?

Moby Dick is also a sperm whale however he has some characteristics that makes him unique.
He has a lot of white characteristics which can make him more visible for the fishermen.

3. Why does captain Ahab want revenge?

Captain Ahab’s main reason to he continuous sailing and hunting whales is to take revenge.
When Captain Ahab was in the front of the boat with his harpoon in his hand, ready to attack
Moby Dick the big whale with the white characteristics. This huge whale attack captain Ahab
and like a mower injured his leg. Now he wants revenge for all of this. He wants to find him and
kill him.

4. Why does Starbuck hunt white whales?

Starbuck and general all the fishermen want to hunt whales to take their oil and other parts of
they body to make tools like their bones.

5. Who is Fedellah?
We actually don’t know a lot of things about him. We know that Fedellah is Pesian and also
captain Ahab’s personal harpooner.
 6. What was the weather like when Ishmael went on his fist whale hunt?
On the first whale hunt of Ishmael the weather was cloudy and humid, which was making all
the seamen lazy and lying on the deck or staring vacantly out at the sea.

Book page 49 exercise 6:

Describe Ishmael and Stubb (how they look, their clothing, their feelings… ) :

Ishmael is one of the main characters of the book, we see him in a lot of part of the story. We
also see that his feelings as the story unfolds are a bit different every time. We have seen him
happy, afraid and scared about the voyage and general about this new experience. He actually
doesn't have a unique clothing style. We can see him with a very basic shirt and grey leggings.
