6. Notes on Cylinder Head Packings


Sa89-07

We have recently changed the material of the


cylinder head packing. The new material
used is nickel-plated soft iron with better gas
sealing characteristics than the previously
used copper or phosphor bronze make
packings.

The new soft iron packings may be used on


PS or even DS type engines, while this
packing is to be adopted on engines with
rather higher maximum cylinder pressure
(Pmax).

Copper (Cu) packings may be used on lower


Pmax engines such as the PS series engines.

Consult the following table on the


recommended Cylinder Head Packings for
each engine.
