1. INTRODUCTION.

This report is about the teaching practice held at forest secondary school from 14 th September to
16th October 2020. In this report the following issues are going to be presented including,
Physical environment of the school, success in teaching, challenges in teaching, resolutions of
the challenges, general issues observed within the station and outside the station and the opinions
towards the next teaching practices.

1.0 PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE STATION.

Forest secondary school is one of the O level community school found in Mbeya city at air Port
Street in the former building of NERO Company. It is built under forest ward community in
2005, The head of this school is Miss Nandi F.

Forest secondary school has 39 teachers where male teachers are 15 and female 24 teachers
and also 1003 is the number of students studying in this school, where by 470 are male and 535
are female

The school also has 28 classrooms, two stuff-rooms head office with department office,
alternative laboratory, 28 latrines, a store, a kitchen and one teachers house. The school has also
surrounded with nice tree and flowers.

More over the school has a computer services, Photocopy machine and services, and it provides
breakfast and sometimes lunch to teachers as well as lunch to the students.

2.0 SUCCES IN TEACHING.

Generally the teaching and learning activities were very successfully because most of student
were very active and cooperative, material were few. Also the head of school and subject
teachers were very co-operative in resolving and giving advices.

4.0 CHALLENGES IN TEACHING.

During teaching practices the following problems were observed.

4.1 TRUANCES.
Most of the students in this school are truants, they didn’t attend school with no reason while
others were coming late at school same dismissed earlier themselves.

4.2 TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCES

In this school there were no enough teaching and learning materials especially text books with no
ratio of 1.6 instead of 1.3.

4.3 THE BIG MEMBER OF STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM.

In each stream the student was over clouded that means, they are above 45. This made difficult
in teaching and classroom management to be very difficult.

5.0 MEASUREMENT TAKEN TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES.

The following are the resolution made to overcome the above problems.

5.1 TEACHING RESOURCES

In order to overcome this problem group activities were given and well supervised and
sometimes extract copies were being used.

5.2 TRUANCE

There were classroom rules given to students in order to reduce truancy and those who
misbehaved were punished accordingly.

6.0 GENERAL ISSUES OBSERVED DURING TEACHING PRATICES

During this period of teaching practice there were good cooperation among teachers and
students, also it was very genetiful for the student to be provided lunch and breakfast to teachers.
In addition to that most of students had good discipline though there were few students who mis
behaved. I really enjoyed this teaching practice with other student from different university and
shared a lot of experiences from them.

However there was a great problem in setting tests because all costs of typing were under field of
students and no stationeries provided by the school, only text books which were also few.
Moreover there was a problem of accommodation to teachers who mostly come far away from
school surroundings hence student supervision was not strong.

Another problem was the lack of school fence which increase truancy among students.

Lastly there was poor arrangement/organization of teaching practices between schools and
university administration which caused a lot of problems to field teachers.

6. SUGGESTIONS.

In the next teaching practice the following things must be considered.

i).There should be a proper organization between schools and university administration during
the arrangement of teaching practices because some students were sent to schools which they did
not select, or which were not their choices at a late time.

ii). There should be a special orientation of teaching practices to student as other universities did
before starting teaching practice.

iii). Some teaching resources must be provided directly from the university such as printed
scheme of work and lesson plans, as well as a drafted T.P report for the students to fill them in
order to reduce costs

7.0 CONCLUSION

Actually teaching practice went well and the fishined well teaching practice, also students and
teachers we cooperation in process in teaching at the school and another teachers from another
universities Example nyerere University and Tumani University. In advice in school will solve
the problem hence can increase performance in in students in school
