CAS ends with a positive note as it celebrates its last variety show

CAS shows it unity in diversity as it celebrates it last variety show

(diko alam sa dalawa haha)

To mark the end of the yearly SinAg Festival by the College of Arts and Sciences, CAS Variety
Show with the theme “Sining at Agham sa Huling CASiyahan, Tayo’y Magsama-sama” was conducted last
April 10, 2019 at FPJ Development Communication Hall.

The event aims to celebrate the individuality of nine departments, (Department of Social
Sciences, Department of Filipino, Department of English and Humanities, Department of Development
Communication, Department of Math and Physics, Department of Environmental Science, Department
of Chemistry, Department of Statistics, Department of Biological Science and Department of
Psychology), making the population of College of Arts and Sciences for the last 55 years.

Each of the departments identify their selves through video presentation wherein the
Department of Chemistry bagged its first award as Best in VTR.

Moreover, Department of Chemistry also set the limelight as they reenacted the well-known
Taiwanese Drama named Meteor Garden and was announced as Best Performing Group followed by the
Department of Development Communication and Department of Filipino.

Best Male Performer goes to Mr. Gerald Glenn Hernandez from the Department of Chemistry
and Best Female Performer goes to Ms. Joy Nicole Lucero from the Department of Development
Communication. Prof. Randolf Gregorio Mayo from the Department of Chemistry was the Star of the
Night and the Department of Filipino as Best in Attendance.

“I think the event was all about unity and not just uniformity despite the fact that each of the
Department has a unique set of learnings to offer. Though I’m not a CAS student, I didn’t feel like the
event is celebrating the separation of CAS but rather welcoming a new chapter in different paths”, said
Darwin Lomibao from the College of Engineering after watching the event.
Victory for CEn: Aeron Nathaniel Rubang wins Mushroom Fairy 2019

Queen of the Apocalypse, Aeron Nathaniel O. Rubang from the College of Engineering was
named Mushroom Fairy 2019 in the Queen of Mobile Legends: A Battle for the Crown during the
coronation night held Thursday, April 11, 2019 at CLSU Oval, besting 12 contestants from different
colleges and bringing pride to CEn.

The 19-year-old Rubang sashayed a sheer fabric of sparkling red dress she said is inspirited by
her affection towards the color red and is inspired by Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s “Lava Gown” as she
was handed the title to the delight of a resounding crowd.

Every candidate was oozing with confidence and beauty in their theme wear but Rubang stood
out as she portrays the character she uses the most in playing Mobile Legends; The Queen of the
Apocalypse, Alice which she was lucky about as a player herself of the said online game.

Rubang succeeded Junly Yap, who won as Mushroom Fairy 2018 “Queen of Wilderness” and
edged out first runner-up Bryan Manzo; second runner-up Alex Alcantara; and third runner-up Zaccary
Martinez, respectively.

She also earned a three special awards on coronation night: Best in Shorts Attire, Miss Body
Beautiful and Miss Body Aromatic.

When asked to relate morality to same sex marriage Rubang’s winning answer was, "Anything
Moral is Ethical, and I think same sex marriage is not moral, we should respect the law of the church, we

This year’s prestigious pageant was once again headed by the College of Arts and Sciences with
the help of University Gender and Development Office and University Supreme Student Council.
