As a student, how do you show your duties and responsibilities as a Filipino citizen?

The duties and responsibilities of a Filipino citizen are important in the general welfare of the
country. Saying this, there are multiple ways to fulfill my duties and responsibilities in being a Filipino
citizen. Such as respecting our various culture and tradition, show homage to the long history of the
Philippines, contribute to the activities that promote national development, and as well as being
knowledgeable about the laws put in place, and complying to them.

The Philippines is rich with history and we have our ancestors to thank for that. Our culture and
traditions as well as the values taught in each contribute to the colorful Filipino identity. As a student, by
respecting and learning our history, I can show my duties and responsibilities to the country. Another is
to participate in the various activities and programs set up for the welfare of others. This does not limit
me in just participating, however, because as a college Filipino student, I can take initiative in starting
my own programs. Programs that would benefit the society, no matter how small. Furthermore, I could
also learn about the laws put in place to ensure peace in the country. By first being knowledgeable
about the law, I ensure that I understand the reasons of which the law was put into place as well as not
allow me to blindly follow. One of the liberties I have in being a student is that I am curious enough and
wise enough to know that no country is perfect. Blindly following on a law would fail one of my duties as
a Filipino citizen which is to participate in activities meant for national development.

Therefore, it is by being knowledgeable about our history, our culture and traditions, the issues
that inhibit the country in improving will show my duties and responsibilities as a Filipino citizen. Taking
initiative in my own way will best carry out such responsibilities and would then benefit my country.
