Civic Engagement

I get involved in WKU community by feeding stray cats in campus, making and posting

environmental protecting slogans.

My role is photographer and researcher. I chose this role because I always come up with some

practical and interesting ideas which can improve our work greatly and taking photos is one of

my hobbies.

I feel very proud with this community because when we are feeding cats, other people in this

community would follow us to use their food to feed them too, which created a good trend in our

campus.

I have learned that if everybody in this community can pay efforts to helping those stray animals

and picking garbage around us which are very simple actions for us, but it can make our

community more harmonious.

WKU is like a small community, we should do the same as what we have done to WKU to this

city we are living in. I would also feed the stray cats, post environmental protecting slogans, pick

garbage around me when I’m in this city as a citizen, this activity improved my sense of

responsibility not only for WKU but for my city, I would pay as much efforts as I can to protect

and improve our community.

My life purpose is quite simple which is living happily. If I always contribute to my community,

I would feel happy, which is also a way to achieve my life purpose.

First, I with my group member bought ham sausage to feed the stray cats, but after a short time

cats didn’t want to eat it because ham sausage is salty which is bad for cats’ health, so I would

buy cat food instead if I am given the chance to repeat this experience. Second, I think the slogan

I made isn’t good-looking because I’m not very good at drawing, therefore, maybe next time I

would let somebody who good at drawing to do that.

I think after I participating in this activity, the community is changing even at the small aspects,

but as an old saying goes “many a little make a mickle”, if I stick to contributing to my

community, it will become better.
