Civic Engagement Project Reflection 2

1. I have joined in a civic engagement project which is organized by my group. On

December 9th, my team members and I did a civic-engagement project

named Warmth in Winter on WKU campus. We prepared about 20 cups of hot tea

which is provided to staves in WKU to thanks their hard work. We walked around

the campus and look for staves such as sanitation workers, dormitory managers,

public securities and so on. I feel moved because of their smile faces and their

thanks words, and I'm also pleased that they supported our projects and thought it

was a meaningful activity. Although they feel thankful to us, I consider that we

should thank them more, so I hope that this cup of tea can bring us thanks and

make them feel warm in this cold winter.

2. My roles are photographer and one of the people who provided tea to staves. I

chose to be a photographer because I’m good in taking photos and my group

members expected me to play this role. I also provide hot tea to staves in WKU

because I want to show my respect and thanks to them.

3. I felt belonging in my community and moved because of staves’ hard work. We

always are taught to be greatly thankful to staves around us because they provide

convenience and safety to us. However, we hardly really do something to thank

them. This project not only made me feel close with my group members but also

made a sense of achievement of me.

4. I learned how to make tea and how to show my thanks to strangers.

5. We have to thank others who help us straightly or indirectly around us. This

activity gave us a chance to do this, and I think this is fit with my life values as

responsible citizens.

6. I purpose to be a person who have warm heart and always be thankful to others.

This activity helped me do something to realize my purpose.

7. We had hot water which is not enough during our project. If I had a chance to

repeat this experience, I would prepare more water, at least four bottles.

8. I took many photos for my group members, and these photos can be memories

and the materials of ppt. I also helped provide hot tea to staves in WKU, it shared

responsibilities of my group.
