Activity: Writing a Eulogy

Eulogy to the Beloved

1. Practice composing a eulogy. This

is a form of philosophizing.
2. Since death is a reality, all of us
will face it sooner or later in our
lives. Think of someone special in
your lives. This person can be a
family member or a non-relative
who already died. write a 3-
minute eulogy for this special
someone whom you cared for.

Transition: “We learned that ‘in

memoriam’ means ‘in memory of’.
Death signals a moment of
reflection, commemoration, and
celebration of the life that had come
to pass. Death, as you may now
have realized, is not completely
terrifying. When we attend wakes
or funerals, the reality of death
strikes us. It is a real experience. At
the same time, we are bound to
hear and listen to family members
and friends sharing a special
memory of the deceased person.

Life is short indeed. It has its ups

and downs. Cherish the happy
moments. Be positive. Welcomes
challenges and problems as
opportunities for self-improvement.
As we often hear ‘you only live once’
or YOLO, this inspires us to seize the
day. We must grab the
opportunities and enjoy life’s
blessings because they may never
be a second chance.”
