Activities

.
This project is about teaching Technicians where Credit Card Readers (CCR) are

located, identifying what a CCR box looks like, what to do once the box is in the Technicians’

possession, recognize how to install the CCR, distinguish how to close out a Service call in the

Service App and trouble-shoot the CCR. This instruction can be online or a blended course.

Terminal Objective: Once this session is complete the Technician will comprehend where to

look, recognize what to look for and discern what to do, once the Credit Card Reader (CCR) is

in their possession.

 Absorb Activity
o The main goal in absorb is to inform whereupon the learner can do a task.
 Justification
 An informational film connotates a documentary. Newly hired
Technicians have no idea exactly where things are located
within a large building. Providing them with an “informational”
film displaying the work campus, areas of a building and
where parts are stored will ease any anxiety in locating the
needed part for the CCR.
 Do Activity
o These activities are the verbs of instruction. This is putting what was
learned in absorb into action.
 Justification
 A software simulation, for example, where safety hazards
exist in a warehouse, where forklifts are going by and
equipment is being moved around, giving the Learner the
ability to move a “character” on an off a pedestrian path, in a
warehouse will demonstrate the correct path to the parts
room, for the CCR and what could happen if he/she did not
stay on the correct path.
 Connect Activity
o These activities are to help learners apply what they have learned thus
closing the gap from being informed, then doing and then grasping the
overall purpose.
 Justification
 To ponder would require the Learner to think broadly about
what was taught and compare. In this case a rhetorical
question about where CCRs are located in comparison to all
other parts a Technician receives to do his/her job, hopefully
will initiate a question being the two ideas are incorrect;
CCRs are not stored where other parts are stored.

Terminal Objective: Once this session is complete the Technician will be able to install a Credit

Card Reader within the vending machine.

 Absorb Activity
o The main goal in absorb is to inform whereupon the learner can do a task.
 Justification
 Invariably without an example, showing the correct way via a
video, the end result can be an arrangement of finished
work. A short, slow moving and zoomed in video showing
the physical demonstration can clear up most, if not all
assumptions what is supposed to be done.
 Do Activity
o These activities are the verbs of instruction. This is putting what was
learned in absorb into action.
 Justification
 Hands on in a controlled environment and with guidance
gives the Learner the confidence to eventually go and do the
task by themselves.
 Connect Activity
o These activities are to help learners apply what they have learned thus
closing the gap from being informed, then doing and then grasping the
overall purpose.
 Justification
 Job aids and an e-consultant help the Learner refer back to
what was taught. All too often, training will occur and time
will pass. The quick access of information when tasked to do
something months ago will give them a reference point.
