SCHOOL CHANDIVALI
• This Institution is the heart of
every PPS member; it has been
the centre of education for
more 2000+ students since
2011-12.
• Our school is located at
Chandivali, Mumbai
• It is a multi-storey building
with multiple activities for
students to take part in, to
understand their own skills.
ECOLOGICAL
CREATIVITY
• We all love wearing our favourite
dresses, tops, skirts, jeans, sarees
etc. But sometimes when we
outgrow them and those become
too small to wear or gets torn, we
are unable to wear them. Yet, it is
just too difficult to say goodbye
because so many fond memories are
attached to them. So, here’s a
SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM !!!
• Rather than throwing away the
clothes you don’t wear , those can
be used to make a GODHADI.
WHAT IS GODHADI ?
• Godhadi is a hand stitched blanket
native to Maharashtra. It is made
from refurbished old saris or piece of
any cloth.
• The end result is like a collage of
different patterns and material of
cloth stuck together which looks
really comfortable as well as
attractive with all those popping
colours
• Godhadi is traditionally used by
women to create quilts out of worn-
out clothes, faded scraps and torn
bits of fabric.
MAKING OF A
GODHADI
• Utilise the left-over clothes
• Quilt the pieces of clothes
• Only hand stitched (no use of machinery)
• Need only pieces of clothes to make a
beautiful godhadi using simple running stitch.
• MATERIALS USED :-
• Clothes, sharp pair of scissors, cotton thread,
needle(size 6 or 5) so that the thread can fit
easily and the work will be easy. If the needle
is thick, it will not pass through the cloth and if
its hole is thin, the thread will not pass
through it.
STEP 1
• Can take any shape for your patch(like
hexagonal ,triangle , square etc.)
• Press it and fold the corners
• Take another cloth and fold it the same way as
the first
• Now, we must stitch both of them to each
other.
• While stitching a quilt ,we have to keep a
distance of 2- 2 1/2 cm
• For the absence of knots on the backside of the
quilt, pass the thread through the needle and
tie a knot but we attach it at the inner side so
that it is not visible outside.
STEP 2
• We take a long thread first , so that we don’t
have to change the thread again & again.
• Then we will remove the needle from the
corner.
• By joining both the corners, we have to do
simple running stitch.
• Just like that we must keep attaching the
small pieces of clothes to our first cloth, that
is our base.
• Try to maintain equal distance while
stitching so that it will look good and neat.
STEP 3
• Be careful about the colour of
the cloth i.e. it should not run
out and for that test the cloth by
soaking it in water.
• Fold the edges and keep
attaching the pieces.
• Trim the edge of the pieces.
• Try to use cotton clothes only.
