the strength to carry out this research. Also, she would like to thank her subject

INTRODUCTION
What is virtual learning? Virtual learning is a learning experience that is enhanced
through utilizing computers and/or the internet both outside and inside the facilities of
the educational organization. The instruction most commonly takes place in an online
environment, Buxton, is a small village located on the east coast of demerara,
Guyana. This School Based Assessment is based on the effects of virtual learning on
students.

RATIONALE
The researcher chose this topic because she was a victim of some effects of virtual
learning. When doing virtual learning the researcher witness some effects of virtual
learning on students and herself. The researcher and students had troubles studying
and focusing and found it difficult to complete tasks on time. Some effects that the
researcher and students suffered in virtual learning are: Bad internet, can be easily
distracted.

METHOD OF INVESTIGATION
The method of investigation utilized by the researcher is the questionnaire method.
This method involves the creation and distribution of questionnaires in a survey to a
group of people to gain data in specific areas. Thus, data collection will be an efficient
process.

Procedures used to collect data


Buxton, Guyana comprise of about 250 households of this is needed for accurate
collection of data on the effects virtual learning on students. Therefore 20
questionnaires will be printed to conduct this study.

Of the 20 questionnaires distributed 20 were returned. The researcher will be utilized
various graphs to present the collected data. The following graphs depict the

From the data collected, in figure 1 can be seen that more students are involved in
virtual learning especially CXC students (Form 5). It is also showing that less students
are not involved because they don’t have internet, no device or they chose not to join.
While in figure 2, which shows the percentage of students who understand/ don’t
understand the work been taught. 90% of students don’t understand any work been
taught especially mathematics, while 10% of the students understand the work been
taught.
In figure 3, shows the percentage of students who wants/ don’t want school to
reopen. As you can see 94% of students want school to reopen while 6% don’t want
school reopen.
Last but not least in figure 4, 95% of the students prefer a classroom setting while
5% prefer virtual learning. Most students chose a classroom setting because it will
help them to focus more, understand the work being taught and give them motivation
to study or do assignments.
