METHOD STATEMENT
PULLING CABLE

I) PREPARATION TASK
1) Checking for finishing of construction works related to cable’s pulling. The installations of electric pipes and trays
were finished.
2) Safety measure readiness:
 Scaffold, support, cramp, operating floor, guard-rail, lifeline, wheels... (belong to installation conditions)
 Safety belt, hardness (if required)
 Ventilation fan (if required)
 Protective goggles for cutting works.
 Safety checking for operating electric equipment, portable lamp (if required), source supply and cord.
 Helm and boots, gloves
 Caution boards and warning signs, barricade (if required).
3) Latest version and approved of the detailed drawings for the pulling works
 Layout of the electric equipments needed to pull, lay out of cable’s routes, phase’s number of sources,
cable’s sizes and types, cable’s quantities or
 Layout dwgs., detail single line dwgs. shown sections, types and ratings of the pulling cables,
equipment’s names or
 Layout dwgs. and cable’s list (if required)
 Type design dwgs. shown cable’s types and connections (if required)

4) Material’s preparation Refer to related list of materials


 Cables and wires.
 Forgetting ropes, pulling ropes and pulling nose (apply to big size’s cables).
 Cable’s label, color marking tapes/ number’s rings/ color sleeves/ highlighter...
 Adhesive tape, shrinkable pipes, silicone (apply to MV and underground cables)
 Cable’s ties, fastening wires.
 Cloths, wax, alcohol...
5) Tools check ensuring a good and safe operation
 Electric multi meter (VOM)/ Ohm meter, Megger (belong to type and rating of pulling cable).
 Cutter machines, hack saws, cable’s shears, blow-torch
 Steel rolls, plastic pipes
 Hand tools

II) INSTALLATION
1) Estimating or site’s measurement for every cable’s length and color for every phase. The new cable’s reels/ rolls
will be checked to ensure the quality prior to cut for pulling. Checking for insulation and continuity to get the
adequate values, visual checking for the pulling cables with voids of excessive contortions and breaks, the
cable’s sheaths void from excessive cracks and scratches and discoloring will be available for using.
2) For every reels/ rolls, the long cables will be measured and cut prior the shorts to ensure the cables will not be
portioned.
3) Prepare cables for every ways. Cables in a same pipe will be bundled by a bundle for a simultaneous pulling.
4) Unreeling cables will be unbent and straightened and arrangement, mark for both sides of cables. When arrange
the cable’s bundles together, the arranged bundles will be straightened and aligned. Label marking for every
cable’s ways at every 5m along and at the every branching points on the trays.
5) Bundling up for cables in a same pipe to pull by the push-pulling method: pull the bundle at a side and straighten
and push it at the other side to make the pulling become easier.
6) In case of pulling and laying the cables on the trays, big cables and long cables will be done prior the smalls and
shorts.
7) Pulled cables will be rechecked for continuity and insulation and visual to find out inattentive damages of the
pulling.
8) The forgetting cables of terminations and spares will be covered by adhesive tape and well rolled. All labels of
cables and cords will be outward turned and visible for checking and taking out.
9) Arrangement for cables on the trays or both ends of the pipes and tie.
10) Covering for pulled cables at the tray’s corners and easy of touching points or both ends of pipes to prevent
inattentive damages.
11) Checking and marking the finished cable’s lines and routes to the construction dwg. .or cable’s list. Send the
requirement’s letters for inspection and acceptance to consultant staffs by the pattern form.
12) Cleaning, removing waste and unsuitable materials out the site, keep the site neat and tide
