Our perceptions and interpretations of events help determine how

stressful these events are for us. Describe two daily hassles that
often annoy, frustrate, or irritate you, and include how altering your
perceptions or interpretations might reduce their stressfulness.

Sleep - I got no sleep most of the night because of the thoughts running
inside my head. It annoys me every night especially when I’m having a
bad dream and wake up between 3 to 4 am trying not to fall asleep again
because I’m scared and I just wait for the morning to arrive. I feel so
empty every day whenever I get out of my bed. I've got no passion for
anything and it frustrates me because I'm starting to doubt and
questioning myself 'why am I like this' I can't even finish my daily chores.
The stress level that I have makes me want to lay in bed all day and do
nothing because I feel so tired and drained. Maybe the solution to my
problem is to get inspiration and be an optimist. It's hard for me to that,
but someday we'll get there.

Coping up with my subjects - this one stresses me out because I don't

understand any of my lessons in all of the subjects even I have read
them many times. I'm not like the other students that are fast learners
and sometimes I went blank. The only solution that might help me with
this is to study even more and take it step-by-step slowly but surely and
ask for help.

2. Stress is not all bad. What do you think is good about stress? (List at
least two things.)

Whenever I'm stressed, I tend to go to bed actually and take a rest for a
while. I think that is one of the good things about the stress it makes you
stop everything that can trigger you into something that is not going well.
And when you are ready and fully charged, you can continue the activity
that you didn't finish because you're stress.

Second, while I'm at rest, I tend to think about what should I do to make
it better. It's a good thing because while you're at rest, it gives you a lot
of choices and options to think.
3. Certain kinds of stressors change from one generation to another.

 Give three reasons for concluding that life was more stressful
when your grandparents were young adults than it is now.

First, when my grandfather told us when they were young, boys can
only go to school, while girls stayed at home. Girls aren't allowed to
go to school at their time unless your family is wealthy and well
known. Because they said that girls should learn the household
chores only because when they get married that's what will they do
and take care of a child.

Second, at an early age, their parents are arranging them in a

marriage. My grandparents were married at the age of 16 and 18 at
that time. They can't do anything about it because it was fixed and
they should follow their parents. All the food, accessories and land
are settled just for them. If one of them will back out, they will be the
disgrace of the family.

Third, they don't have a lot of childhood memories like what we have
today. It was very strict at their time, they should follow the rules all
the time because if they didn't, the punishment was so terrible. Not
like today, children are not allowed to be beaten. Their childhood was
not fun I think, because they have no choice but to follow. If I was in
their time I don't think if I can last. That was very stressful at a very
young age. They already have a huge responsibility.

 Give three reasons for concluding that, on the contrary, life is

more stressful today.

First, I think most of the students nowadays are not studying

because they have an urge to learn, but the actual thing is that they
have to study because they don't want to dismay their parents and
they want to meet their expectations. Also, they don't want to have a
failing grade. It is very stressful for us and challenging at the same
time because we're in the pandemic and we have to study all by
ourselves and cope up to the situation.

Second, all of us is trying hard to live in daily life. Not all of us are
capable of things that others can do. We don't have the same status
as them.

Third, everything has changed. Accepting the new normal living and
realizing we are too far from what we have before. There are a lot of
things we are not allowed to do these days and there a lot of things
that we should do to protect ourselves these days.
