Traffic light control

PLC

October 22, 2020

APPROACH.
On the outskirts of my house there is always traffic because it is the only entrance / exit
to enter the neighborhood where I live, this has caused that on some occasions the cars
collide, since some cars want to enter, and others try to leave the neighborhood. That is
why a solution is being sought to eliminate this, or even to reduce this type of accident as
much as possible. One solution is to place a traffic light, since there is not enough space to
put a booth for a guard, and there is not enough money to hire a security guard, the traffic
light is proposed using the following materials:

 Green spotlight of 120 V-AC

 Yellow spotlight 120 V-AC
 Red spotlight 120 V-AC
 2 Push buttons
 PLC Zelio
 Sockets for spotlights for 120 V-AC
 Cabling of 4mm2
 Plug
 Rigid plastic box
 Tools
 Fuse to 120 V-AC of 5 A

So that the traffic light does not have to be connected to a neighbor's house, an
arrangement will be made for it to have its own power supply, and the cost of the electricity
it generates will be charged to the neighbors, since there will be several addresses. They
will not have to pay much, but apart from that you have to pay an extra that will be a bonus
for the person who installed it, who is a resident of the colony, since he will put all the
materials that were previously said.

Everything will go inside the plastic box, so that the only long cable is that of the
connection to the electrical outlet, protected with a fuse, which will be approximately 5
meters long, in case at some point the plug is pulled. cable is not too tight. A part of this
connection will go to the source destined for the semaphore, the other part will go from
power to the PLC, and also to the 3 loads that will be used. Two pushbuttons will be
connected to the phase line, at each pushbutton input there will be the phase connection, in
both the output will be the normally open one, so that when we press it (each one in its
respective case ) do the corresponding function, one output of the button will go to the first
input of the PLC and the output of the other push button will go to the second input of the
PLC, the first will be to start the program in the PLC, and another to stop in case it is
necessary to make a change in the system. The PLC will be placed inside the box, along
with the buttons and lamps. The lamps will be in a socket, this to give more weight to the
plastic box and also to make it easier to place them in the order that they are, one terminal
of the socket will go one of the PLC connections and the other terminal of the socket will
go to the neutral, in the PLC outputs, one is connected to the phase, as previously said. This
connection is repeated with each socket in its respective outlet. Once all the connections
have been made (as well as in the connection diagram), the plc is programmed, for this the
program that will be similar to the ladder diagram presented here is entered. After it is
verified that everything is well connected and programmed, the next step will be to close
the box and place it in a point so that everyone who enters and leaves the colony can see it,
although only those on one side will be able to see them. on the other side they will have to
be vigilant.
