Session assignment – 1 and 2.

Co1 : Understand the voltage current characteristics and operation of semiconductor devices,
circuits and operational amplifier.

Co4 : Analyze the behavior of Electronics circuits containing Semiconductor device,


Operational Amplifier & Verify using Modern tools (Multisim).

Note : You need to perform this experiment using either Multisim Software / Online
Multisim.

Outcome: Students will be able to,


1. Understand working of Function generator , CRO , Multimeter.
2. Learn about circuit making using multisim software.

Taks 1: Apply 10 V P-P sine wave, 1 KHz frequency using function generator and observe
on CRO, calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle ( calibrate time and
voltage low).

o Vertically covered divison=1


Vertical scale=10V/div
Peak voltage=1× 𝟏𝟏𝟏𝟏=10V
o Horizontally covered division=2
Horizontal scale=500us/div
Time to comlete a cycle(T)=10^-3s
o Frequency=1/T=1kHz

Task 2: Apply 50mV maximum/peak triangular wave, 100 Hz frequency using function
generator and observe on CRO, calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a
cycle ( calibrate time and voltage low).

o Vertically covered division= 1


Vertical scale= 50 mv/div
Peal voltage= 50mV

o Horizontally covered division= 2


Horizontal scale= 5ms/div= 0.005v
Time to complete a cycle(T)= 10^-2S

o Frequency= 1/T=100Hz

Task 3: Apply 14 V P-P square wave, 10KHz frequency using function generator and
observe on CRO, calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle ( calibrate
time and voltage low).

o Vertically covered division= 1.4


Vertical scale= 10V/div
Peak volatage= 14V
o Horizontally covered division= 5
Horizontal scale= 20us/div
Time to complete a cycle (T) = 10^-4s

o Frequency = 1/T =10 kHz

Task 4: Apply 5 V P-P sine wave, 1MHz frequency using function generator and observe
on CRO, calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle ( calibrate time and
voltage low).

o Vertically covered division =1


Vertical scale = 5 V/div
Peak voltage=0.5*20v=10v/2= 5V
o Horizontally covered division =1
Horizontal scale = 1us/div
Time to complete a cycle (T) =1s
o Frequency= 1/T= 1Mhz

Task 5: Apply 1KHz, 2 V peak to peak sine wave to CRO and observe the effect of x-pos, y-
pos, GD, invert nobe of CRO.

X-POS:

X- pos the wave move from left to right or right to left

Y-POS:
Y- pos the wave move from up to down or down to left

GD:
This is ground setting that disconnect the input signal from the vertical system, this is
where 0 is the volt displayed

Invert nobe CRO:


Only channel 2 has invert nobe which allows the signals to be displayed upside-down

Task 6: Using Function generator


1. Apply 10KHz, 2 V peak to peak sine wave to channel 1 of CRO
2. Apply 4 V, Peak to peak triangular wave 100 Hz to channel 2 of CRO.
Observe the effect of channel 1/ channel 2 and dual switch.

Task 7: Observe basic functions of multimeter.

Multimeter: it is a devices designed to measure electric current, voltage, resistance etc.….

Measure AC voltage
Measure DC voltage
Measure DC current
Measure Diode
Measure Resistance
Measure Battery charge
Measure Transistor (hFE)
