SYMMETRIC AND UNSYMMERTICAL FAULT ANALYSIS

AIM:
To become familiar with modeling and anal ysis of power systems under faulted condition and to
compare the fault level, post-fault voltages and currents for different types of faults, both symmetric
and unsymmetric.

OBJECTIVES
To conduct fault analysis on a given system using software available and obtain fault analysis report
with fault level and current at the faulted point and post-fault voltages and currents in the network for
the following faults.
1. Line-to-Ground
2. Line-to-Line
3. Double Line-to-Ground

SINGLE LINE-TO-GROUND FAULT

Sequence Network of Single line-to-ground-fault

Fault Current

LINE-TO-LINE FAULT
Sequence Network of Line-to-Line Fault

DOUBLE LINE-TO-GROUND FAULT

Sequence of Double line-to-ground fault

PROCEDURE
1. Open matlab
2. Open new model Simulink
3. Make the Simulink circuit diagram
4. Run the simulation for symmetrical and unsymmetrical fault analysis
5. See the result.
PROBLEM:
Develop line fault model to simulate voltage sag caused by line fault .the line fault model
consists of 11kV,30MVA,50Hz three phase source block feeding through 11kv/0.4 kV, 1
MVA delta/wye transforemrs to a 10kw resistive and 100 VAR inductive load.Locate fault
at the 11kV bus to simulate the line fault. A 0.4 second simulation is set and ode23td server
is selected to run the simulation.
OUTPUT

SYMMETRICAL FAULT
UNSYMMETRICAL FAULT
RESULT:
Thus the matlab simulation circuit was developed for symmetrical and unsymmetrical
fault analysis and the outputs were given.
