Guidelines for Individual Case Study (20%)

General guidelines

1. Students are required to prepare the report individually.

2. Students need to identify and gather information about one entrepreneur and its
business. (Sources can be from Newspaper Articles, Website, Blog, Internet etc.)
3. Use Times New Roman 12 or Arial 11 with 1.5 spacing.
4. The report must be submitted in a softcopy form (pdf).

2. Executive Summary-- (5 Marks)

i) Write an executive summary of approximately 1 page.

ii) Executive summary is the summarization of the whole report and can only be
done after the whole report is completed.
iii) Leave this part first and after you had completed the report then only do
the report summary.

3. Introduction: Entrepreneur & Business (10 Marks)

i) Describe the selected company business registration (Sole Proprietorship or

Sdn Bhd, or other)
ii) Describe a little bit about the selected company history (e.g year of
establishment, ownership, paid-up capital etc)
iii) Here describes the nature of business the selected company that you choose.
iv) You can write on the Industry that the selected business involved (Chilli
Sauce Industry, Automobile Industry, Food Industry etc.)
v) Describe the trend of the Industry in Malaysia e.g either the industry is
growing or declining.
vi) Growing means good sign for the company to involve with this industry.
vii) Describe the specific company business product (e.g Food Industry--Frozen
Food, Automobile Industry--Sedan Car, Chilli Sauce Industry--Garlic Chilli
Sauce etc.)
viii) Describe the Model of the Business (Manufacturing, Trading or Franchising)
4. Entrepreneurial Characteristics--(10 Marks)

i) First Define PECs in general.

ii) Then Chose any 2 (Two) Personal Entrepreneur Competencies

that the selected Entrepreneur have.

The first PEC that I chose is “Sees and acts on

opportunities” Let says I choose MYDIN.

 Here you are to describe the success story of Mydin Mohamed using “Sees
and acts on opportunities” to expand the business from one outlet to 74
outlets today. Here you are to cite the real story.

Then Follow the second PEC “Initiative”

Here you are to describe the success story of Mydin Mohamed using his
“Initiative” to extend the business into new areas such as from traditional
groceries store to supermarket and hypermarket business.

5. SWOT Analysis (10 Marks)

Please conduct an analysis of the selected entrepreneur and elaborate each
component based on SWOT analysis.
