ECONOMY AFFECTED BY COVID-19

The difficult task of stopping the spread of this virus has forced governments to activate

emergency protocols that range from closing companies to limiting their production, a

measure that undoubtedly effects the markets.

The activation of quarantine and the closure of borders as the most drastic measure to

prevent the spread of the virus has, without a doubt, a devastating impact on the finances

and, therefore, on the economic growth of all countries.

The impact of COVID-19 is hurting the world economy, but it is harder for certain

sectors: for the moment, those most affected are those related to the tourism sector. In

recent days, European, Latin American and North American airlines have already asked

their governments for urgent help to avoid bankruptcy. Also the gastronomic sector, driven

in a significant proportion by tourism, is suffering the consequences, after the authorities of

several cities around the world ordered the closure of bars and restaurants.
