Setup Menu Options

Depending on the application (GPS, mmGPS, or Total Station), the Setup menu contains different options for
configuring system components.

Equipment Configuration Files

Equipment configuration files contain information on the specific equipment files, GPS+ receiver, prism, radio, etc.,
for the job application and setup. Pocket-3D uses this information to accurately portray jobsite information on the
main screen.
An equipment configuration file is created in one of two ways.
• Import the file through the compact flash card using the Copy button.
• Create the file manually.
Before initializing or localizing a GPS+ system, there must be an equipment configuration file defined in Pocket-3D.

Incorrect measurements or typographical errors will have a direct affect on staking/grading accuracy.

Equipment
The equipment menu creates and edits equipment configuration files. Equipment configuration files contain
information specific to the equipment; such as, machine type, receiver type and location, offset lengths, and radio
configuration.

Equipment setup is used for Rover/range pole setups, and not Base station, mmGPS
transmitter/receiver, or Total Station setups.

1. To access available equipment configuration files, tap SetupEquipment (Figure 28 on page 32).

[Type here]
2. From the Equipment Configurations screen (Figure 28), equipment configuration files can be created

within Pocket-3D.

Figure 28: Equipment Configuration

Once equipment configuration files are created and stored in the internal memory, they can be selected and
adjusted at the beginning of the job, depending on the equipment setup.

time; Pocket-3D automatically saves the changes.
• Distances – select Meters, US Survey feet, Int. feet, or Feet + Inches.
– If using Feet + Inches, all values will show as 1'11''1/2 where 12 inches equal 1 foot; any value
smaller than an inch will show as a fraction of an inch.
– Select 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 decimal places.
• Angles – select DD°MM’SS”, NDD°MM’SS”E, Gons, or DD.DDDD°.
• Areas – select Square meters, Square feet, Acres, or Hectares.
• Volumes – select Cubic meters or Cubic yards.
• Coords – select North-East-Elev, East-North-Elev,
X-Y-Z, or X-Y-Z (South Azimuth).
• Stations – select 100.000, 1+00.000, 10+0.000, or 1+000.000.

Connecting to GPS

Setup Menu
After creating a GPS or mmGPS equipment file, it is possible to connect to satellites. Initialization for machine
files that use network RTK corrections occur after downloading the NTRIP for network corrections via SIM card
or Wi-Fi.
Initialization for machine files requiring local RTK corrections only occur after the Base station is launched, and
the radio settings are correctly matched in the Rover.
1. Tap the GPS Info button on the main screen.
a. If the connection is set to Bluetooth, the Bluetooth Devices screen will appear (Figure 34).
Select the device I.D. of your Rover and tap OK. The Connection screen appears, and the Rover
initiates a connection process to GPS.
