Scenario and the Task

You are supposed to select and analyze a medium size business which is already using
information systems to handle their business processes. These information systems may be
manual or partially computerized systems. Gather information using requirement gathering
techniques such as interviews, observations, questionnaires, document reviews, web site reviews
and sampling. You are asked to make an analysis with the current information systems. Then
evaluate the system capabilities with the corporate goal of the company. Produce a report based
on the findings and propose an enhanced information system/s for the company.

Students can add any functionality which will enhance the system and make the proposed
solution more comprehensive.

Use Harvard referencing to properly acknowledge all the external sources you use.

Tasks:

1. Identify business objectives of the selected organization and draw an organization structure
diagram. Recognize different managerial levels of the organization. (LO1) (20 Marks)

2. Organizations have different functional areas. Explain the functions of different functional
areas of the selected business organization. Identify and evaluate the information needs of
them. (LO1) (20 Marks)

3. Identify the different types of information systems available in above functional areas of the
selected business organization. Explain the functions available in those Information Systems
which is relevant for organizational development. (LO2) (30 Marks)

4. Evaluate different information systems with pros and cons which can be used to solve
business problems in current context. Identify a business problem from your organization and

recommend most suitable information system to solve that problem concerning the current
trends in the selected industry. (LO3) (30 Marks)

5. You are supposed to do a 20-minute presentation regarding your selected organization which
is already using information systems to handle their business processes. Further you have to
study about the functional areas and its information needs. In addition, you have to study
about the current information system(s) that it uses for the moment by discussing the pros
and cons of it. It has to be extended to propose an information system/s by considering new
trends.

You have to provide evidences in how you have gather information using requirement gathering
methods such as interviews, observations, questionnaires, document reviews, web site reviews
and etc. (LO1, LO2, LO3) -(100 Marks)
