MODULE FOR MEASURING THE

ELECTRIC POWER
DL 10065

Unilab Laboratory
DL 10065

GENERAL NOTES

The DL 10065 module for measuring the electric power is designed to satisfy the requirements of
our 1kW (Unilab) and 3.5 kW (Uniplan) electric machine laboratories.

If necessary it may be used for other electrical machines not of our production provided that they
are included in the power specified by the instrument characteristics.

In case of need the module DL 10065 may be connected to our data acquiring system, by means of
the front output bushings.

section: (1 ammeter and 1 voltmeter).

Ammeter: Display: 3 ½ digits

Full scale: 19.99A
Accuracy: 0.5%
Input range: 5 – 105% f.s. (1)
Resolution: 1 digit = 10mA

Voltmeter: Display: 3 digits

Full scale: 500V
Accuracy: 0.5%
(1)
Input range: 10 – 105% f.s.
Resolution: 1 digit = 1V

Alternate measurement The section of alternate measurement is made up of 3 instruments

section: (1 ammeter 1 voltmeter and 1 wattmeter) commutable.

Ammeter: Display: 3 ½ digits

Full scale: 19.99A
Accuracy: 0.5%
Input range: 5 – 105% f.s. (1)
Resolution: 1 digit = 10mA
The ammeter is commutable on the three-phases without interrupting the
test circuit
Voltmeter: Display: 3 digits
Full scale: 500V
Accuracy: 0.5%
Input range: 10 – 105% f.s. (1)
Resolution: 1 digit = 1V
The voltmeter is commutable for the measurement in three-phase systems.

Wattmeter: Display: 4 digits

Full scale: 6600W
Accuracy: 0.5%
(1)
Input range: 10 – 105% f.s.

The voltages that power supply the digital instruments are insulated towards the power supply net.
The calibrations have been carried out at 20°C and 50% relative humidity.

(1) = Allowed range of inputs, in which the accuracy is specified.

OUTPUTS

D.C. Ammeter: On the bushings B1 is present a voltage of 250mV for A.

(Example: 3.65A on the instrument gives 912mV on the bushings) red
positive, black negative.

A.C. Ammeter: On the bushings B4 is present a voltage of 250mV for A.

(Example: 3.65A on the instrument gives 912mV on the bushings) red
positive, black negative.

D.C. Voltmeter: On the bushings B2 is present a voltage of 10mV for V.

(Example: 150V on the instrument gives 1500mV on the bushings) red
positive, black negative.

A.C. Voltmeter: On the bushings B5 is present a voltage of 10mV for V.

(Example: 150V on the instrument gives 1500mV on the bushings) red
positive, black negative.

Wattmeter: The wattmeter output is three-phase with Aron measuring circuit.

On the bushings B3 is present a voltage of 10mV for W.
(Example: 3200W on the instrument gives 3200mV on the bushings red
positive, black negative.

USE CONDITIONS

Check the presence of the net fuse in the chassis-plug (PR1).

Connect the power cable after having checked that the net voltage is that provided on the plate.
Operate the net switch J1 the related pilot lamp shall turn on.

All the instruments must light-on, this indicated a correct operation.

To achieve a correct and good reading it is better to wait some minutes in order that the instruments
will thermally stabilize.

USE OF AC SECTION IN THREE-PHASE

The connections to utilize the DL 10065 in three-phase measure are indicated on the following
figure.

The switches J3 voltmetric and J2 amperometric may be commuted on the phases to be measured,
the switch J4 shall be positioned on W.

When the measurement is at low cosφ it is better to utilize the wattmeter as sum of the two
measures (Wa and Wb), commuting J4 on W = Wa +Wb.

The two values shall be added paying attention to their polarity.

It may happen that one of the two readings is negative; in this case it is necessary to keep it into
consideration during the calculations.
