ASM653: SYSTEMS DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The projects should be documented based on the Suggested Table of Contents as


shown below:

The project is a major part of your grade. The project must be done in groups of 4 to 5
members. The project involves the analysis and design of an information system for a SMART
CAMPUS. All of you are responsible to play USER role as in JAD session. Choose one of the
following task (or other ideas) and redesign accordingly.

SMART CAMPUS
1) Cashless (e.g. cafeteria)
2) Academic registration process
3) Hostel registration/management process
4) Facilities booking process
5) Facilities complaint process
6) Transportation booking process
7) Students activity process
8) Parking management process

Throughout this semester, students will be evaluted based on:

1. Group Assignment 1 (15%)


Assignment 1 – User role play guidelines (refer to Chapter 6: JAD session). The
output for it can be in the form of Infographics/ Video/ MS PowerPoint slides/
Powtoon/ Canva, etc.

The content of the Group Assignment are:

1) Introduction (company background)


2) Explanation of the current system
3) Process or flow of data in the current
4) Example of forms (input) of the current system
5) Example of reports (output) of the current system
6) Problem statement

2. Group Project (30%)


• Objective of the project is to apply theories and methodologies that relate
to the task given
• Students will be evaluated based on a standard evaluation of:
▪ Final Report
▪ Presentation:
• Prototype
• Student presentation

The content of the FULL REPORT are:

1) Introduction (company background)


2) Explanation of the current system
3) Process or flow of data in the current
4) Example of forms (input) of the current system
5) Example of reports (output) of the current system
6) Problem statement
7) Proposed system - Objectives of the new system
8) Scope of the new system
9) System Benefits/Significant of the project
10) Process or flow of data in the new system
11) Use Case Diagram for new system
12) Propose Forms - Input (information) of the new system
13) Propose Reports - Output (receipt, reports, & etc) of the new system

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

1. FORMAT (Project Documentation and Project Proposal)

All documents (proposal and final project documentation) should be word-


processed. No hand written documents will be accepted.

The final project documentation should be bounded properly with the diskette
attached to the back cover of the document. The font style to be used is the
Arial. The font size should be 11 and the line spacing 1.5. Every chapter/part
must begin on new page. A content page must be included at the beginning of
all documents. Every page (except cover) should contain a page number.

2. DEADLINES AND SUBMISSIONS

The deadline for the full project submission is on week 13. Late submissions
will result in a 10 marks deduction per-day. The submitted projects are non-
returnable, so students should maintain a copy for their own reference. The
final deliverables should include:
1. A copy of the final project document (original).
2. A video consist of the system prototype in a suitable length of time
and clear voice that shows every features.
3. Make sure to double check of your file submissions (click to check
the files). You are responsible of your own work.

3. BACKUP

Students are reminded to make backup copies all their programs and
documents. Excuses, such as “hard-disk crashes” or “printer problems” will not
be tolerated.

4. INTEGRITY and PLAGIARISM

Any duplicated or plagiarized work, if detected, will be automatically


awarded 0 marks. Lecturers reserve the right not to accept any project that
is found lacking in substance or copied from some other sources. Students
are required to develop their project according to the stated project
specifications.
