3 a) Write a note on : (i) Classification of buses for load flow studies (ii) Importance of Slackbus

b) List the algorithmic procedure steps of Gauss-Siedal load flow analysis of given system, by
giving the generalized equations wherever needed. 8

c) Using G-S load flow procedure, determine the bus voltage at buses – 2 and 3 of the system 8
shown in Figure 3(c) at the end of first iteration the values shown are p.u. impedances.

4 a) Explain Newton- Raphson method of conducting load flow analysis on a power system
network consisting of slack bus and load buses only with Y BUS in polor co-ordinates. Draw the

c) Compare NR method & Gauss-Siedal load flow solution techniques with respect to (i) Time

5 a) Derive expressions for loss coefficients of a power system consisting of two generating plants
and one single load. 6
b) Incremental fuel costs in Rs/MW-hr for a plant consisting of 3 units are as follows:

6 a) Explain the solution procedure by RUNGE-KUTTA-IV order method used during the
transient stability analysis of a given power system. 10
b) Explain the representation of synchronous machine & load for transient stability studies. 10
