Speech communication

This pertains to the process by which a speaker sends a message to a


listener on a particular situation through verbal and nonverbal channels in
order to elicit a desired effect.

Speech
This is the act of speaking. According to James H. Mcburney, it is the
communication of ideas and feelings by means of audible and visible symbols
originating in the speaker.

It is when a man stand in public with the use of verbal and non verbal

 MODES OF EXPRESSION
These refer to how the speaker communicates his ideas to his listeners1.

1. Speaking from memory


The speaker memorizes his speech from a manuscript.
2. Speaking from manuscript
The speaker uses a manuscript in delivering his speech

3. Impromptu Speaking
The speaker delivers and thinks at the same time.

4. Speaking extemporaneously
The speaker has to bit against the time.

It is from the Latin word EXTEMPORE which means it grows out of time
or comes at the time of delivery.
