Tightening of Piston Crown Bolts


on DS-26A, DS-28, DS-32, DV-32, DL-26, DL-28, DL-32, DL-40 engines
SK-8811

The below mentioned maintenance schedule is recommended for the tightening of the
Piston Crown Bolts.

Item Maintenance Interval

Inspection every 8,000 ~ 12,000 hours

Renewal of O-Ring every 8,000 ~ 12,000 hours

Renewal of crown bolt every 20,000 hours

Remarks: 1. Recondition the mating surface on both the piston crown and body if it is found
rough or worn.
2. In case of damage on the screw threads, or the tightening surface of the bolt,
renew it with a new tab washer and lock nut.
3. In case of using new bolts, repeat tightening and loosening of the bolts to
promote quicker running in of the bolts. Do not use Molykote or any lubricant.
4. Apply tightening torque using a torque wrench, as stated in the instruction
book.
