Tightening of Piston Crown Bolts


on DS-26A, DS-28, DS-32, DV-32, DL-26, DL-28, DL-32, DL-40 and PL-24 engines
SK-8811A

The below mentioned maintenance schedule is recommended for the tightening of the
Piston Crown Bolts.

Item Maintenance Interval

Inspection every 8,000 ~ 12,000 hours

Renewal of O-Ring every 8,000 ~ 12,000 hours

Renewal of crown bolt every 20,000 hours

Remarks: 1. Thoroughly inspect the piston body top and crown mating seat. When fretting
marks of wear are observed, they shall be corrected to maintain adequate
contact.
2. Check the tightness of crown bolt whenever overhauling the piston and renew
the tab washer as well as the lock nut.
3. When using new bolts, apply embedding of the threads by tightening the bolt
at least three times before complete tightening.
* Use lubricant such as Molykote 1000.
4. Tighten the crown bolt with the specified torque as stated in the instruction
book.
