INTRODUCTION

The Aviation Industry has come a long way over the past years, aircrafts
have evolved from fairly simple to quite complex designs with the spike
in science and technology since the Wright brothers invented the first
successful airplane.

As an Aeronautical Engineering student and a practicing innovator, I

have some responsibility of giving back to the aviation industry, my
family and to all the instructors who tutored me.

I would like to introduce to everyone the “DG-1406” also known as

“The first Dickson”, an aircraft that I designed to practice my Aircraft
Design course. It is named after my loving father, Dickson Gernah (DG)
who has supported and encouraged m, through my education and the
“1406” denotes his calendar birth day (14) and birth month (June).

The DG-1406 was modeled after “Grumman American AA-1” and

“Beechcraft Bonanza (2011 Model G36)” as this aircrafts are quite
competent on the field, The DG-1406 is two-seater aircraft powered by
a lycoming O-235 engine designed for general aviation purposes.

If this design comes out to be successful, then I hope that when I

become a registered aeronautical engineer, in due time, I wish to
continue the creation of DG-1406.

In this activity, we learn that we can design our own aircraft with the
power of our imaginations, or from combining different features of
different types of aircraft, with different assumption for the
specifications.
