Detailed Outline of the first 50 of my course

Overview of Expectations for Each Week:

This five-week online course will be divided into folders for each week. Within this
course, you will be able to access detailed instructions on what will be required of
you to complete and turn in every week. It is imperative to read the course
description and goals in order for you to be equipped with the proper
understanding of what is expected from you every week.

Course Description:

Located in this section, you will find the syllabus/important information regarding
the course, including the course goals and policies.

Announcements​:

Located within the announcement tab, you will be able to access important
information about the course. In addition, I will always post the link to our ​weekly
meetings on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm​. ​iIf at any point during the course you are
unable to meet during the time allotted above, you will be responsible for watching
the recordings at the expense of your own time.

Discussions:

Each week you will be expected to respond to crucial questions by ​Thursday at


11:59 pm and reply to at least 2 other classmates by Sunday at 11:59 pm.​ You
will have the opportunity to use guiding points to answer each crucial question, but
are not required to use the guiding points. These will be available to help guide you
in your work. As this will be a written response, it is important for you to know that
the more you collaborate with your peers, the better outcome you may have.
Student/Faculty Lounge:

Communication and collaboration are vital parts in achieving success. Within this
tab you will be able to access the open discussion forum. We do encourage all of our
learners to utilize this forum to share resources or links they may find useful for
their peers. One benefit of this open forum is that you, as a learner, will have the
advantage of connecting with your instructor and peers to ask questions about the
course content or guidelines.

With our course focusing around Project-Based Learning, it is vital that you actively
collaborate with your peers throughout your time here in this course. .​ You may find
it useful to put yourself in self-select groups of - in order to actively collaborate
with your peers​. ​With that being said, you may find it useful to appoint a group
leader to email the instructor all of the names in each specific group, as well as, ask
any questions your group may have. It is up to you and your group to discuss how
you all meet throughout your time here in this course. Some platforms may include:
Skype, Zoom, or Google Meets. Email your instructor with any questions you may
have.

During week 1, you will look at how powerful having a growth mindset is, and how
it has the impacts on learners’ ability to view a challenge as an opportunity for
development and continuous learning.

Begin Reading:
“Get Out of Your Own Way” by ​Mark Goulston and Philip Goldberg. You will
need to have read the first 0 pages by our next Zoom meeting.
Once you have completed the reading/video listed above, ​ ​you will have 2
activities that will need to be turned in by Sunday, August 29, by 11:59 pm.

1. Participate in this week’s discussion board.

a. You will need to provide a written response to the crucial question listed
under the discussion board tab posted in “week 1” folder.

- From the assigned reading and video, you will share your input on the impact
of having a growth mindset and answer the crucial question by interacting in
meaningful conversation.

b. You will need to have a written response to at least 2 other


classmates’ posts by Sunday, August 29​th,​ by 11:59 pm.

2. Submit your “Growth Mindset Plan”.

a. You will have the opportunity to develop your own “Growth Mindset
Plan”. You will provide a written reflection and submit it as a PDF. This
plan will be in regards to how you propose to develop a growth mindset
within yourself and with your peers.

- Your reflection needs to utilize the provided resources you had access to
during “week 1”. By doing this, you will have the opportunity to reflect on
the importance of having a growth mindset that can help you be successful as
a lifelong learner.

You will need to upload the assignment as a PDF to a folder found in “week 1”.
The assignment needs to be titled (Last name First Initial, assignment
name).

After developing your growth mindset plan, you now have the opportunity to dive
into the ​COVA​ learning approach ​(Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity)​.
This will aid you in building your own ePortfolio.

Please make sure you do everything possible to attend our second virtual
class meeting on Tuesday, August 31st, at 6:30 pm. You will be able to find the
link to our meeting via Zoom within the announcements tab. You need to keep
in mind that if you joined a group with your peers, you will need to schedule a
second meeting with only the learners in your group.

need to have read up to the first 100 pages by our next Zoom meeting.

Creating Significant Learning Environments (CSLE). The link will be found in


the “week 2” folder.

Once you have completed the items listed above, ​you will have 1 activity that will
need to be turned in.

- From the assigned reading and video, you will share your input on the COVA
learning approach and answer the crucial question by interacting in
meaningful conversation. You will also need to add how you will incorporate
this into your own ePortfolio.

You will need to have a written response to at least 2 other classmates’


posts by Sunday, September 5th, by 11:59 pm.

There is ​NO​ assignment due this week, but I would advise you to begin researching
platforms that you are wanting to use in order to develop your own ePortfolio. Some
of those platforms may include: Weebly, Wix, WordPress, etc. Remember you will
share your ePortfolio with your peers during “week ”. Please do not wait to get
started.

Now that you are fully finished developing your growth mindset plan and you have
looked at the COVA learning approach, this week, you will need to comprehend the
benefits of being a part of a professional learning network (PLNs).

Please make sure you do everything possible to attend our second virtual
class meeting on Tuesday, September 7th, at 6:30 pm. You will be able to find
the link to our meeting via Zoom within the announcements tab. You need to
keep in mind that if you joined a group with your peers, you will need to
schedule a second meeting with only the learners in your group.

Instr ctions 
● Focus on the readings from Weeks 1 and 2 as you are planning the course
you are developing.
● Spend time at the Schoology website (or other course management
system you have chosen) as you familiarize yourself with the interface
while planning your online course.
● What is the acceptable evidence that learners have mastered the concepts
in your course? Use questions listed in Blackboard.
● Enter materials (quizzes, activities, resources) into LMS.
● Include a detailed outline or description in your assignment document of
the first 0 of your course that will be entered into the course
management system at the end of Week .
● Submit completed assignment document with links to LMS
and ePortfolio into Blackboard.
● Submit a weekly update into your ePortfolio.
● Answer questions -11 on your Planning Questions document.
Submission Details:

This assignment is unique to you, your circumstances, and your organization so you
need to determine who your audience is, why and how they will use this
information, and what impact you are looking to make. Since you own this
assignment, and more importantly the ideas within the assignment, you need to
choose how you will format and present this information. Refer to ​Who O ns the
Eportfolio​ - http://www.harapnuik.org/?page_id 0 0​ for a more detailed
explanation of idea ownership.
● Even though part of your evidence of learning for this assignment may take
the form of a Google document, video, presentation, blog post or other digital
format you will be required to use this document template to submit the
assignment including the items requested above. ​
 
● Upload the file to Blackboard by or before the deadline. ​
​If your evidence of
learning does take the form of a Word document then you can simply paste
the content into the document template and complete the assignment
submission as outlined above. ​
 

The School of Education is using this submission process in its online courses for
two reasons:
1. We wish to provide you an offline copy of the assignment instructions that
you can refer to.
2. We want to ensure there is a consistent and permanent record of assignment
submissions that can efficiently be converted to hard copy.
Formats:
● Use the APA format to cite your sources.
● Use the assignment name, your last name and first initial (assignment name
last name first initial) to label your assignment submission.
Add to eportfolio:
Since this assignment is part of the course outcome of developing an online course,
you will also need to add this to your eportfolio. In the final module you will be
required to consolidate all the course assignments into a cohesive section on your
eportfolio, so we recommend that you add this to your eportfolio as you go along
rather than wait until the end.
